The Technical Specialist is responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of his/her specialty or section within the laboratory. Provides guidance in problem solving and troubleshooting in organization, implementation, and technical performance of diagnostic procedures within the section.</div><br>

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Selects test methodology appropriate for the clinical use of test results. These decisions are made in conjunction with the Laboratory Manager and Medical Director.
</li><li>Schedules and coordinates work activities of employees working in respective area.
</li><li>Prepares documentation for discipline or commendation for review by Lab Manager.
</li><li>Verifies test procedures performed and establishes the test performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test and system.
</li><li>Enrolls and participates in an approved proficiency testing program commensurate with the services offered. Maintains proficiency testing records and ensures that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
</li><li>In conjunction with Laboratory Manager and Medical Director, establishes a quality control program appropriate for the tests performed and establishes the parameters for acceptable levels of analytic performance. Ensures that these levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process.
</li><li>Implements and adheres to the Laboratory quality control policies, documents all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performance. Reviews and evaluates data on a routine basis. Prepares monthly QC reports for pathologist review.
</li><li>Ensures that patient results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly.
</li><li>Identifies training needs and assures that each individual performing tests receives appropriate, regular in-service training.
</li><li>Resolves technical problems and ensures that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory&rsquo;s established performance specifications, and documents all actions. Operates, maintains and troubleshoots department equipment.
</li><li>Evaluates the competency of all testing personnel and assures that competency is maintained, including direct observation, monitoring of test results, review of intermediate records, assessment of test performance and problem solving skills, etc.
</li><li>Oversees and assists with the training of all employees and students in respective departments.
</li><li>Performs all responsibilities of testing personnel in his/her section as required.
</li><li>Composes new procedures and performs annual review/revision of sections technical procedural manuals.
</li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by Laboratory Manager or Pathologists, i.e. relieves and assists with daily operational duties of department.
</li><li>Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.</li></ul>

 The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $86,000 and $136,000 per year. Interview witnesses and stakeholders; take necessary statements, as strategically appropriate.</li><li>
Actively engages in the identification, selection and direction of appropriate internal and/or external resources for specific activities required to effectively evaluate claims, such as Subrogation, Risk Control, nurse consultants, and fire or fraud investigators, and other experts.</li><li>
Verifies the nature and extent of injury or property damage by obtaining and reviewing appropriate records and damage documentation.</li><li>
Maintains claim files and documents claim file activities in accordance with established procedures.</li><li>
Utilizes evaluation documentation tools in accordance with department guidelines.</li><li>
Proactively creates Claim File Analysis (CFA) for adherence to quality standards.</li><li>

Selective Insurance is seeking a Claims Technical Specialist-Construction Defect for this remote position. This role will investigate, negotiate and conclude by settlement or denial complex and challenging claims. The individual in this position will also ensure claims are processed within company policies, procedures, and individual's prescribed authority with exceptional standards of performance. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.</div>
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Investigate the claims through telephone, written correspondence, and/or personal contact with claimants, attorneys, insureds, witnesses and others having pertinent information.</li><li>
Analyze information in order to evaluate assigned claims to determine the extent of loss, taking into consideration contributory or comparative negligence. Assign medical or other experts to case and arrange for medical examinations when necessary.</li><li>
Process incoming calls and correspondence from insureds, claimants and agents regarding questions or problems associated with claims. Interact with underwriters and agents on claim resolution.</li><li>
Evaluate, negotiate and settle both non-litigated and litigated claims within delegated authority. Handle litigation files from start to finish.</li><li>
Update ACS on a continual basis to accurately reflect status of each assigned fie and to initiate percentage of negligence on the part of the insured to determine &quot;chargeablity&quot;.</li><li>
Receive and approve expenses incurred to investigate, process, and handle a claim.</li><li>
Prepare check requisitions for all loss and expense payments.</li><li>
Explore salvage and subrogation potential on all claims. Prepare for and participate in claims review and settlement conferences.</li><li>
Close claim by issuing check or denial and securing appropriate releases.</li><li>
Must be able to drive an automobile to travel within territory. Car travel represents approximately 0-10% of employee&rsquo;s time and a valid driver&rsquo;s license.</li></ul>
