<p>Responsible for welding test administration for job applicants. Assists new and existing employees in welding techniques as it applies to company requirements. Develops, implements, manages and teaches manufacturing welding technology to new hire welding school participants. The welding technician will be responsible for developing new and existing employee&rsquo;s skills, knowledge and ability commensurate to the goals of the program and effectively use equipment and materials to meet goals.</p>

<ul><li>Prepares and submits reports indicating student progress; at the completion or termination of an employees training, submits a report of the total number of hours of training the student received and the related skills achieved.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Develop the training plan including schedule and manual.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Receive various training needs from production supervisors for skill enhancement and planning for new processes and materials as per customers requirements.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Trains welders in both theory and practice in manual and automatic processes.</li></ul>
 <ul><li>Periodically assess employee performance by conducting tests and evaluate the trainees.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Keep records of the completed training and employees training performance.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Develops and recommends new modified welding techniques and procedures.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Works with production management to establish welding procedures for production and welding personnel, to ensure compliance with specifications, processes and heating requirements.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Evaluates new equipment, techniques, and materials in welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Directs and coordinates technical inspections to ensure compliance with established welding procedures and standards.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Develops, issues and controls all Welding Procedures, Welding Specifications, Process Control Documents and all other technical welding documents.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Ensures compliance with the facility&rsquo;s Safety Program and Environmental Program as directed.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assists production supervisor on plant schedules and issues.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Provides input on requirements needed to maintain cost efficiency.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Makes recommendations to improve production flow equipment performance, quality of product and cost savings.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Work with production supervisors to achieve production goals.</li></ul>

<p><b>MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:</b></p>
<ul><li>Successful completion of an internal welding test which includes 1G.</li>
<li>Welding experience in manufacturing environment both as a welder and instructor.</li>
<li>CWI (Certified Welding Inspector).</li>

 The Welding Engineer will be responsible for providing central office and field support to the Projects Engineering group, existing facilities operations, construction, and maintenance activities. Project support includes, but is not limited to; field walkdowns, presentations, supplier discussions, drawing and document reviews, participation in designs ranging from scope definition, feasibility and conceptual studies, and preliminary/detailed designs. The Welding Engineer writes welding requirements for procurement documents, welding, brazing, and bonding procedures in compliance with applicable code requirements. The candidate also solves problems in designing and maintaining plant facilities and processes. The candidate will be responsible for training site personnel from engineering, maintenance, and construction on the welding requirements, criteria, and compliance documents applicable for performing work activities.

 The Welding Engineer also reviews design output documents for welding technical data and compliance with national codes and standards and company approved procedures and policies, and they may draft and provide assistance in the execution of Installation Change Requests (ICR&rsquo;s), Non-Conformance Reports (NCR&rsquo;s), and retraining should a nonconformance or required process improvement be identified. The Welding Engineer evaluates bid proposals for technical compliance of welding submittals, reviews supplier submittals, and traveling to and conducting supplier surveillances to ensure compliance to contractually specified welding requirements.

 The Welding Engineer may be assigned field activities supporting on-site and off-site organizations, including on-site subcontractors performing welding, brazing, bonding activities or non-destructive examination activities that fall within the scope of the Welding Program Manual. The Welding Engineer may be assigned to perform off-site supplier visits and audits. The Welding Engineer maintains oversight/ownership and ultimate responsibility of Filler Material (Rod) Rooms. The Welding Engineer reviews on-site work packages involving welding to ensure that design output is complete and correct and establishes hold points for the fabrication and inspection of welds that satisfy the code, specifications, and procedure requirements. The Welding Engineer generates Weld Inspection Records (WIRs), associated documents and activities, and any associated weld maps for the work package and maintains them by completing and tracking all alterations from the originals, and they perform random in-process oversight activities of any on-site welding activity. The Welding Engineer reviews all completed Welding Inspection Records for completeness and correctness before final closeout. The Welding Engineer must have extensive technical knowledge and understanding of AWS AWS A2.4, ASME B31, and ASME Section IX Welding codes. The Welding Engineer will assist in the processing of non-conformances and will generate and release of supplemental weld instructions including repair operations. The Welding Engineer will have knowledge and hands-on application in the SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW processes, and in weld size calculations. Knowledge of autogenous weld process for stainless steel tube for high vacuum applications. Knowledge of manual and automatic GTAW welding of stainless steel for high vacuum applications.

   Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Physical Science [Chemistry, Physics, or related] from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents from Canada or Mexico, the Washington Accord, or the list of substantially equivalent as documented by ABET.

   OR MS in Engineering /Physical science.
  </li>

   OR PhD in Engineering /Physical science.
  </li>
  <li>
   There is a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirement up to 4 years post-graduation at time of offer and confirmed by transcript. Beyond four years from graduation, engineering experience will supersede GPA as a requirement for hire.

    3.0/4.0 minimum cumulative GPA for Bachelor degree
   </li>

    3.3 minimum cumulative GPA for Master degree

   In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major, 2 years job-related, and 1-year nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities.    A trained welding professional with a B.S. degree with Welding Engineering/Welding Engineering Technology concentration from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program.
  </li>
  <li>
   A minimum of 5 years of experience working as a welding engineer in a fabrication, manufacturing. Utility, Shipyard, or operating environment.
  </li>
  <li>
   Experience working as a welding engineer under a NQA-1 quality system.
  </li>
  <li>
   American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector Certification or able to attain within one (1) year from hire date
  </li>
  <li>
   Ability to work in a project and construction team environment.
  </li>
  <li>
   Ability to follow procedures and work within a rigorous work process.
  </li>
  <li>
   Ability to estimate, plan, and track progress for preparation of discipline deliverables
  </li>
  <li>
   Good written and oral communications skills.
