PLEASE NOTE: This is a short term seasonal position for the months of November-February. Individuals in this role will be required to work every day January 10th-January 25th, up to 12 hours per day. Hours and schedules are determined on an as-needed basis to ensure optimal coverage.


Overview

Founded in 1906, the Western Stock Show Association aims to invest in future generations by promoting youth and community development through livestock and equestrian education, innovation, entertainment, and competition. We are best known for putting on the annual National Western Stock Show, which has called Denver its home since the 1890s.

Outside of the best 16 days in January, our events complex keeps busy year-round by hosting horse & livestock shows, trade shows, wrestling tournaments, concerts, cheerleading competitions, car shows and more. Our Event Operations team plays a critical role in all of our events and keeps our complex functioning at all times. This role is a great step for candidates who are interested in taking their first step towards management or leadership roles!

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee a small team of Event Staff and assist them with a variety of tasks related to events hosted at the National Western Complex.
  • Event set-up/tear down.
  • Custodial/landscaping work.
  • Occasional stall cleaning.

Desired Experience, Skills, & Abilities

  • Prior experience or strong willingness to learn how to operate heavy equipment (tractors, forklifts, skid steers, etc.) as needed to fulfill event requirements.
  • Able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy items (up to 50 pounds), standing, bending, and moving continuously throughout shifts.
  • Comfortable working with indoors, outside in all weather conditions, and around animals.
  • Candidates must be available for early mornings, late nights, and weekends throughout the 16 days of Stock Show (January 10th-January 25th), with shifts up to 12 hours per day.
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team, with a proactive approach to completing tasks.
  • Fluent in English, with clean verbal communication abilities; bilingual skills are a plus.
  • A clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is required.
  • An active Driver’s License is strongly preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • This is a seasonal, hourly position with a pay rate of $20.10/hour.
