Copper Creek Landscaping is seeking a highly qualified and detail-oriented Seasonal Horticulturist to oversee the operations of our retail greenhouse and surrounding plant yard. This role requires a strong foundation in horticulture, plant health management, and retail plant operations, along with the ability to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Our greenhouse features seasonally rotating annuals and houseplants, complemented by an extensive outdoor selection of perennials, trees, and shrubs available to the public. The Seasonal Horticulturist will take full ownership of maintaining a healthy, organized, and visually appealing retail plant environment.

Position Summary

The Seasonal Horticulturist is responsible for the daily management of greenhouse and nursery yard operations, with a primary focus on plant health, inventory control, merchandising, and customer engagement.

This role oversees:

• Seasonal annual plant rotations
• Houseplant inventory and care
• Perennial, shrub, and tree yard presentation
• Retail sales support and customer interaction
• Plant health monitoring, including disease and pest management
• Inventory tracking, organization, and product flow

Key Responsibilities

Plant Health & Horticultural Management

• Maintain proper watering schedules and environmental conditions for all plant material
• Monitor plant health and proactively identify signs of disease, nutrient deficiencies, and pest infestations
• Diagnose and treat common plant diseases and insect issues using industry best practices
• Implement fertilization and integrated plant health care programs
• Remove and properly dispose of unhealthy or non-saleable plant material
• Ensure all plants meet high-quality, retail-ready standards

Seasonal Inventory Management

• Coordinate and execute seasonal plant rotations in alignment with retail demand
• Manage incoming shipments, inspect plant quality, and ensure proper handling
• Maintain accurate and organized inventory systems
• Ensure all plant material is clearly labeled, priced, and merchandised appropriately
• Monitor stock levels and communicate purchasing needs to management

Greenhouse & Nursery Yard Presentation

• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional greenhouse environment
• Oversee layout and presentation of perennials, trees, and shrubs for optimal customer flow
• Ensure all signage, labeling, and pricing is accurate and consistent
• Develop and maintain seasonal displays to enhance retail appeal and drive sales

Retail Customer Experience

• Provide knowledgeable assistance to customers regarding plant selection and care
• Offer expert recommendations on planting, maintenance, and plant health solutions
• Deliver a welcoming, professional, and service-oriented retail experience

Operations & Organization

• Track inventory movement and maintain accurate records
• Coordinate unloading and organization of plant deliveries
• Assist with customer load-outs and general yard operations
• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency across all greenhouse and yard areas

Success in This Role

A successful Seasonal Horticulturist will:

Qualifications

Required

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, Agronomy, or a related field
• (or equivalent combination of education and professional experience)
• Strong knowledge of plant identification, plant health care, and growing practices

• Ability to identify and manage common plant diseases, insect pests, and nutrient deficiencies
• Experience in greenhouse, nursery, or garden center operations
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, seasonal retail environment
• Ability to lift and handle plant material and work both indoors and outdoorsPreferred

• Experience in retail greenhouse or nursery management
• Familiarity with plant sourcing, ordering, and inventory systems
