Seasonal Store Associate

White Flower Farm in Morris, CT is seeking a Seasonal Store Associate to work through mid-summer. The work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00am - 5:30pm.

Position Overview

The Seasonal Store Associate serves as a warm, knowledgeable, and professional representative of White Flower Farm. As the first point of contact for long‑time mail‑order customers, local shoppers, and visiting tourists, this role blends customer service, retail accuracy, and a welcoming presence. Seasonal Store Associates help customers find what they need, complete sales transactions efficiently, and contribute to a positive, memorable experience in both the Store and the Display Gardens. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and has an interest in plants, gardening, or the White Flower Farm brand.

Essential Responsibilities

Customer Experience & Sales:

  • Provide a friendly, professional welcome to every guest and embody White Flower Farm’s commitment to quality products and service.
  • Accurately and efficiently complete sales transactions using the POS system, including cash, credit, and gift certificate purchases.
  • Assist customers in person and by phone with questions about inventory, store hours, policies, directions, and general plant needs.
  • Direct customers to appropriate resources—Garden Advisors, managers, or online materials—for more complex or technical inquiries.

Store Operations:

  • Follow all Store protocols, including escalation procedures, product return policies, and department guidelines.
  • Support daily Store tasks such as stocking shelves, watering plants, cleaning, sweeping, tagging products, organizing carts, and maintaining a neat and inviting store environment.
  • Perform opening and/or closing duties as scheduled.
  • Participate in Company and Store special events and promotions.
  • Provide support to other departments across the nursery when needed.

Position Requirements

  • Previous customer service experience; retail experience a plus.
  • Horticultural knowledge, interest, or education preferred, but not required.
  • Reliability and punctuality; adherence to staffing schedules is essential.
  • Professional appearance and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to perform simple math calculations and handle transactions accurately.
  • Comfort using technology including POS systems (Shopify), personal computers, and online ordering tools.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and work behind a Store counter; move throughout Store inventory and display areas.
  • Ability to bend, reach, push, and remain mobile throughout the shift.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily inside a gift‑store environment.
  • Occasional outdoor work in varying conditions including heat, cool temperatures, and rain.

Pay: $17.00 - $17.50 per hour
