Seasonal Summer Tennis Camp Counselor (June-August)

Job Overview
As a Camp Counselor at BTC, your responsibilities will include assisting with tennis activities, helping supervise campers throughout the day, and supporting lunchtime and swimming activities.

At the beginning of the day, you may be responsible for checking campers in as they arrive and ensuring accurate records of campers leaving in the afternoon.

During the tennis portion of the day, you will support Junior Tennis Pros Carrie and Anne in delivering a high-energy, safe, and educational tennis, pickleball, and ping-pong experience for campers.

During lunchtime, you will assist with the preparation and serving of food. Following lunch, you will help oversee swimming and free play.

We are looking for counselors with strong initiative who can handle a variety of situations as they arise while helping ensure that all camp activities remain both fun and well organized.

Counselors may choose to work Sessions 1–4 (June 15 – July 17) and/or Sessions 5–8 (July 20 – August 14).
There is also an opportunity to fill our Head Counselor role, which includes additional responsibilities, a higher pay rate, and longer hours.

Key Duties

  • Lead engaging tennis drills, games, and activities tailored to various age groups and skill levels
  • Support Junior Tennis Pros during instruction and daily camp activities
  • Supervise campers during all activities, ensuring safety and positive behavior
  • Assist with camp setup, equipment organization, and maintaining clean activity areas
  • Assist with the serving and occasional preparation of lunch
  • Oversee swimming and free play (with the ability to occasionally swim with campers)
  • Ensure all campers are properly accounted for during check-in and check-out

Skills

  • Basic knowledge of tennis techniques, rules, and gameplay
  • Intermediate swimming ability
  • Strong judgment, initiative, and ability to enforce rules
  • Experience working with children in sports coaching, daycare, babysitting, or similar settings

Requirements

  • By your first day of work, you must be CPR certified and USTA Safe Play Approved
  • The club will offer one opportunity prior to camp for counselors to obtain CPR certification. If certification is not completed on that date, it must be obtained elsewhere before your first day
  • BTC staff will guide all counselors through the process of becoming USTA Safe Play Approved

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
