The following position is being posted for the upcoming, 2026-2027 school year.
DESCRIPTION: Full-Time Secondary Junior High School Math and Science Teacher
LOCATION: Meridian Junior High School
STARTING DATE: August 19, 2026 following School Calendar
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certifications/License: State of Michigan Secondary Math and Science Certification, 6th-12th grade, preferably Math (EQ) or (EX) and Integrated Science (DI) or Science (DX)
Education: Bachelors (BA or BS) from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment
Applicants must meet highly qualified requirements of No Child Left Behind Endorsement
Relevant teaching experience
RATE OF PAY: Per Master Agreement between the Meridian Public Schools Board of Education and the Meridian Education Association

JUNIOR HIGH TEACHER

SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. Teachers are responsible for planning, organizing and implementing an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Meridian Public Schools teachers are committed and focused to student centered learning.

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings/trainings as required.
EQUIPMENT USAGE:
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copiers, and telephones.
Uses scientific lab equipment and chemicals.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk. A moderate level of complexity for decision making and average time pressure of decision making.
The employee must have the ability to move/lift up to 25 pounds. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables and desks. Specific vision abilities required by the job includes close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
