ROLE OVERVIEW



The Secondary Mathematics Teacher will collaborate within a faculty team to review, develop and deliver a curriculum consistent with the IB MYP/DP frameworks and the MYP/DP Mathematics Subject Guides and will create and deliver units of inquiry accordingly. This position supports and implements the learning program in accordance with the guidelines and philosophy of NEOM EC-12 under the supervision and direction of the Programme Coordinator(s) and the Head of School.



REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY


Teaching Experience


  • Proven experience as a Mathematics teacher, preferably within an IB MYP and DP framework.

Mathematical Knowledge


  • In-depth understanding of various mathematical disciplines, research methodologies, and practical applications.
  • Ability to convey complex mathematical ideas in an accessible manner.

Collaboration and Communication


  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for effective teamwork.
  • Experience working with diverse learning needs and creating an inclusive classroom environment.

Curriculum Development


  • Expertise in curriculum development, preferably based on the IB MYP and DP frameworks.

Assessment and Reporting


  • Proficient in developing and administering assessments; ability to report on student progress in mathematics.

Professional Development and Adaptability


  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on education trends.
  • Adaptability to integrate new teaching methodologies and approaches.

ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES


The Mathematics teacher's responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:


Curriculum Delivery


  • Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned with the MYP and DP frameworks.
  • Foster mathematical curiosity, critical thinking, and inquiry-based learning.

Differentiated Instruction


  • Tailor teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning needs, ensuring an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage hands-on activities and application of mathematical principles.

Inquiry-Based Learning


  • Facilitate inquiry-based learning experiences, encouraging students to explore mathematical concepts independently.
  • Guide students in developing a deep understanding of mathematical methodology and application.

Assessment and Feedback


  • Develop and administer assessments to gauge student understanding and progress in mathematics.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support students in enhancing their mathematical skills.

Collaboration


  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and create a cohesive learning experience.
  • Foster positive relationships with other DP and MYP teachers, contributing to cross-subject connections, particularly with subjects that complement mathematics.

Professional Development


  • Stay updated on subject related advancements, teaching methodologies, and curriculum developments.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.

Parent and Community Engagement


  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress and involvement in mathematics-related activities.
  • Collaborate with the community to enhance the mathematical learning experience.

Other Duties


  • Duty of care and supervision within the school campus.
  • Offering of Extra Curricular Activities and support for Student Enrichment Experiences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS


Knowledge, Skills and Experience


  • Experience teaching (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) is preferred
  • Experience teaching Mathematics within recognized international curricula, within high-performing schools, is mandatory

Qualifications


  • Relevant Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Relevant Professional Teaching Qualification.
