Security Guards ensure that visitors have a safe and positive museum experience. They protect the museum's collections, exhibits halls, and buildings from theft, vandalism, or damage. Security ensures that museum facilities are safe, secure and clean, by assisting with preventative maintenance. Provide quality visitor experience through the delivery of excellent customer service.
How does it get done?
To patrol exhibit halls, interior and exterior perimeters, maintain current and accurate security logs. Assist with the general custodial and maintenance upkeep of museum facilities and grounds. Monitor surveillance cameras, fire and security alarms. Respond promptly to emergency situations and complete necessary documentation. Assist in training new security guards.

Visitors to the Museum, Museum staff, Department of Cultural Affairs staff, Foundation staff.

Minimum Qualification
No prior experience or training required.
Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Public work setting, foot patrols indoor and outdoor areas, two-way radio use, exposure to visual/video display terminal. Sitting, standing, bending, and reaching are all required. Work during inclement weather and perform assigned duties. Requires overtime for special events and other activities within the museum. Evening, weekend and holiday hours are scheduled.
