The Allen County Public Library is seeking a Full-Time Security Officer to support our busy downtown Main Library on second shift. In this role, you'll help ensure the safety and security of patrons, staff, and facilities while contributing to a positive, inclusive atmosphere for all.

What You'll Do

As a Security Officer, you will:

• Monitor the library building, grounds, and activities to ensure a safe environment

• Conduct routine patrols and maintain visible security presence

• Respond to incidents, emergencies, and calls for assistance

• Enforce library policies with professionalism and respect

• Complete incident reports and documentation accurately and timely

• Collaborate closely with staff to support a welcoming, inclusive space for all patrons

What You Bring

Successful candidates will have:

• A valid driver's license

• Strong observation and situational awareness skills

• Clear, professional communication and conflict-resolution abilities

• Sound judgment and problem-solving skills

• Reliability, integrity, and a calm demeanor under pressure

• Experience in security, public safety, or customer-facing environments preferred

• Familiarity with basic surveillance or security technology a plus

The schedule for this role is Monday - Thursday 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM, Friday & Saturday 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM, and Sunday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM (40 hours per week with a rotating weekend schedule)
