General Description:
Under the direction of the Safety and Security Manager, the Safety and Security Supervisor will oversee facility security to protect Parrish Healthcare assets. Supervises daily operations of the PBX Communications section, Security Officers, access control system, and closed-circuit television system. Assists in the training and development of the Security Department. Responds effectively during emergency and non-emergency crisis, capable of providing appropriate communication and directions, and one who understands the needs of the hospital and able to present themselves in professional and confident manner. Uses various communication devices to notify appropriate response personnel. Is well organized and able to maintain appropriate documentation and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervises security systems and teams for protection of individuals and the organization. Conducts or directs surveillance and coordinates with law enforcement.
  • Oversees the daily workflow, schedules, and assignments of security staff including security officers and desk clerks.
  • Oversees and participates in all Safety and Security Department activities to include position justification, recruitment, interviews, selection, orientation, training, cross-training, transfer, and staff scheduling for maximum utilization.
  • Assists to ensure staffs completes their timely probationary as new hires and to provide pertain information to the manager for annual performance evaluations and assessing competency.
  • Communicates and provide appropriate recommendations to the Safety and Security Manager on modifications, or the development of policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates and assists in resolving day-to-day departmental operational issues. Conducts ongoing assessment of the needs for all which we encounter, and the ability to communicate and present a healing and supportive experience at all times.
  • Visits all shifts on a regular basis, or randomly, identifying areas of concern and opportunities for improvement, and able to provide back-up coverage as necessary.
  • Provides training and education on security, safety, and other work-related subjects, and one that ensures staff annual competencies completed, and has the basic and advanced knowledge on access control, CCTV, burglar and fire alarm, and communications systems are within established parameters.
  • Has a clear understanding of Hospital policies, procedures, EOC Operations, and baseline knowledge of Emergency Management, good writing skills, with baseline knowledge of Word Document, EXCEL, and DATA entry systems.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned and manage the PBX Operation and needs.
  • Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area.

Requirements:

Formal Education:
  • Vocational or other technical school, certification, training or apprenticeship desired beyond high school. AA Degree or advance studies in law enforcement, corrections, fire science, safety, or another related field desired.

Work Experience:
  • 2 years to < 3 years experience; minimum of 1-year experience in law enforcement, corrections, security, fields required, or greater than 1 year experience as PMC security officer

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
  • IAHHS Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor (CHSS) within one year of hire
  • BLS through The American Heart Association required to be completed quarterly through RQI.
