WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: We’re looking for experienced Registered Nurses (RN) who have the desire and ability to live and work at our residential Christian summer camp for special needs adults and neurotypical children.
Grotonwood is a day and residential (overnight) summer camp serving adults age 18-75 with a variety of physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities through one-week residential camping programs. We also serve neurotypical children age 5-17. This is a deeply rewarding job for someone looking for seasonal work in a summer camp that offers diversified camping to under-resourced communities.
Ideal for nurses seeking a break from a hospital, clinical, or school nurse setting! Our camp nurses allow our campers and seasonal staff to succeed at camp by ensuring that their health needs are met in a safe, efficient, caring, and nurturing manner.
HEALTH CARE TEAM: Our team consists of two residential RNs and three Medical Assistants (typically pre-med and nursing students). Additionally, we have a team of returning per diem RNs and LPN staff that work to support the ebb and flow of our camping programs throughout the summer as needed.
SUMMER CAMP DATES & HOURS OF OPERATION: Staff orientation will occur between June 11-19, 2026. Camp opens to the public June 21 and closes August 21, 2026 . Though we prefer to hire staff for the full ten-week contract, applicants who are able to commit to a 6-8 week contract will be considered.
SALARY & WORK PERKS: $1750-1950.00 per week commensurate with experience/credentials.
Includes all meals, private housing, free parking, MA license reimbursement (if applicable), first aid & CPR reimbursement (if applicable), uniform (t-shirts), use of camp facilities outside of working hours (staff gym, trails and beach etc), exclusive access to a Golf Cart for travel around the campgrounds to administer necessary first aid and/or medication.
PLUS! Bring your kids to camp - Grotonwood offers FREE day camp for kids living in your household (value of $4,230.00 per child in tuition) and deeply discounted rates for overnight camp.
Day Camp operated Monday - Friday from 7:30am to 6pm daily.
COMPLETION BONUS: $900 Completion Bonus (pro-rated and based on a minimum nine-week commitment).
MINIMUM HOURS/TYPICAL SCHEDULE: Nurses will typically work 65-70 hours per week whilst campers are onsite.
TIME-OFF/BREAKS: Residential RNs receive one night off mid-week (typically Wednesday or Thursday from 4-10pm), plus a 1-2 hour break each day. Our residential nurses take from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning off each week.
