The Selection & Design Coordinator serves as the primary design liaison for homeowners building with Carolina Signature Homes through the Aiken Design Center. This role is responsible for guiding clients through the interior and exterior selection process, ensuring an exceptional customer experience while maintaining accuracy, organization, and alignment with construction timelines.
The Selection & Design Coordinator combines design expertise, construction knowledge, and strong communication skills to assist homeowners in personalizing their homes while supporting the construction, sales, and administrative teams to ensure seamless project execution.


Specific Responsibilities
Homeowner Selection Experience
  • Assist homeowners in coordinating and selecting interior and exterior finishes for their new home.
  • Schedule and facilitate all design studio selection appointments.
  • Guide clients through cabinetry options, specifications, finish selections, and design details.
  • Educate homeowners on features, benefits, and product specifications to build confidence in their selections.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for homeowners regarding selection-related questions.
  • Build strong client relationships through professionalism, expertise, and exceptional service.

Selection Documentation & Coordination
  • Prepare, execute, and distribute all selection documentation accurately and timely.
  • Verify pricing, product details, and specifications prior to submission for processing.
  • Coordinate selections, options, and design changes with construction and administrative teams.
  • Ensure all selections are aligned with building schedules and deadlines to prevent construction delays.
  • Confirm accuracy and condition of installed selections when necessary.
  • Maintain organized, detailed records within internal systems and shared drives.

Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as liaison between homeowner, New Home Coordinator, Project Manager, and Design Center team.
  • Communicate regularly with suppliers and trade partners to maintain current product offerings and samples.
  • Participate in company meetings and Design Center initiatives.
  • Assist with special projects as requested by management.

Showroom & Product Management
  • Maintain all design studio product samples and displays in an organized and professional manner.
  • Ensure samples, materials, and displays are current, clean, and representative of available options.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to update discontinued or revised product lines.

Additional Design Responsibilities
  • Develop kitchen and bath cabinet designs for new home and remodeling clients.
  • Collaborate with clients to create cabinetry designs that integrate appliances, plumbing, lighting, countertops, and backsplash selections.
  • Monitor budgets for cabinetry designs for homes and explain any additional costs having to do with selections.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure cabinet layouts work with the floor plan and are installed as indicated on the cabinet drawings.
  • Anticipate and inform clients of additional features which may be of use to them in all aspects of their design and selections.
  • Assist clients in selecting appropriate finishes that reflect the clients’ overall vision for each space in their new home.
  • Inform clients about appropriate care for their selections.
  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping and organizational skills.
  • Observe prescribed building and safety regulations with each design.
  • Maintain professional and timely communication with new home coordinators, vendors, builders, installers, and other subcontractors to ensure proper project execution.
  • Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines and ensure the smooth flow of work.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum 3 years of residential design experience or construction selection coordination.
  • Working knowledge of blueprint reading and residential construction processes.
  • Ability to coordinate finishes, colors, and materials with strong design expertise.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and presentation.

  • Ability to propose solutions and resolve challenges proactively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); ability to master design center software systems.
  • AutoCAD experience preferred.
