Senior Account Director (Medical Communications)

The Senior Account Director at Force is responsible for communicating with and consulting marketing, medical, sales, education, and training associates and managers within the pharmaceutical/healthcare marketplace. This individual will consult product marketing teams in developing cost-effective communications strategies to educate and change the behavior of a defined target audience. This position will also develop and present business proposals to existing and new marketing and medical clients to expand our existing client business. This role is responsible for managing client expectations, physician opinion leaders, and strategic partners along with collaborating with Operations and Scientific Innovation teams in fulfilling multiple projects.


Essential Functions:

  • Lead and direct client interaction and contribute ideas and solutions routinely embraced across multiple accounts; understand and proactively anticipate the implications of changes in clients’ products and portfolios
  • Identify and foster the development of client relationships and pursue new business opportunities in established and emerging accounts directly or in partnership with the account manager (AM)/director
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of the operational aspects of FORCE services, with expertise in most service offerings and across multiple client accounts
  • Act as a mentor to the AM/project manager, assisting with timelines, project management, and client management as needed on assigned accounts
  • Initiate strategic planning with the client within assigned accounts. Take responsibility for brand planning, calls with AORs, and proactive account recommendations
  • Provide recommendations based on experience in various product life cycle models, communications offerings, product marketing, and competitive/external environmental factors
  • Offer options for additional deliverables that will enable clients to better achieve stated goals by expanding scope; train and mentor AMs on basic skills
  • Leverage FORCE departments in idea generation for meeting customer needs with new, innovative solutions
  • Assist leadership team on RFPs and SOWs
  • Identify opportunities within team environment for development/learning and partner with management to develop and implement the resources and content for training
  • Provide guidance to improve colleagues’ knowledge of FORCE products, services, and operational processes
  • Support the organization in SOP maintenance and development
  • Proactively monitor trends in the marketplace and educate internal team on their appropriate application
  • 20-25% travel time expected to client and offsite locations to manage meetings and events

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, with at least 11 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience in medical education, pharmaceutical marketing, and/or pharmaceutical advertising.


Periodic travel (local, national, or international) to client sites or events may be required.
