The Opportunity

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Account Manager to join our Charlotte leadership team. This is a senior-level, client-facing role with a dual remit: managing and developing a team of high-performing Sales Managers while simultaneously driving your own portfolio of new business and account management activity within the financial services and insurance sectors.


This position is designed for a commercially astute professional within the staffing industry who combines strong people leadership capabilities with an active, hands-on approach to revenue generation. The successful candidate will operate at the intersection of team performance and personal contribution, setting the standard for sales excellence while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous growth.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Sales Managers, setting clear performance objectives and KPIs aligned to business targets.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one performance reviews and provide structured coaching to develop individual capability and drive commercial outcomes.
  • Foster a high-performance culture underpinned by integrity, client focus, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on team structure, hiring strategy, and long-term commercial planning for the Charlotte office.


Business Development & Account Management

  • Develop and manage your own portfolio of new business relationships across financial services and insurance clients Nationwide.
  • Lead senior-level client meetings, pitches, and presentations, positioning Oliver James as the partner of choice for specialist technology recruitment.
  • Maintain and grow existing client accounts through strategic account management, ensuring delivery excellence and long-term client retention.
  • Identify and capitalize on cross-selling and upselling opportunities across Oliver James' broader service offering.
  • Monitor market trends within financial services and insurance to proactively identify new commercial opportunities.


Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrable track record in a senior business development or account management role within a recruitment environment
  • Proven experience managing or mentoring sales professionals, with the ability to inspire performance and navigate complex team dynamics.
  • Deep knowledge of the financial services and/or insurance sector, including an understanding of key hiring functions and market dynamics.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to build, manage, and grow a revenue-generating client portfolio.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to engage at C-suite and senior leadership level.
