Job Summary

The Senior Account Manager leads strategic growth, client relationship management, and program execution efforts to position PPL as a trusted partner to state agencies, managed care organizations, and other key stakeholders. This role oversees the fulfillment of contractual obligations, ensures adherence to service level agreements, and provides expert guidance on PPL’s products and capabilities. The Sr. Account Manager drives business development initiatives, including proposal development, sales presentations, and market expansion strategies, while cultivating strong community engagement and identifying opportunities to introduce new solutions. Serving as a cross-functional leader, this position directs complex projects, collaborates with internal teams to resolve issues, and mentors staff to support high-quality performance and professional development. Through analytical decision-making, market insight, and proactive communication, the Sr. Account Manager advances organizational goals, strengthens client partnerships, and contributes to the long-term growth and competitive positioning of PPL.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Relationship Management & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Preserves client relationships with state agencies, managed care organizations, and other key stakeholders.
  • Recognizes and leverages relationships between clients and stakeholders and other departments.
  • Participates and drives key stakeholder meetings to provide best in class service, problem-solving dialogue, and thought leadership on important issues.
  • Responsibility and oversight over community engagement strategies for growth in markets.

Contract Compliance & Service Delivery

  • Executes timely and accurate fulfillment of contractual obligations and solutions to program needs in a consistent manner.
  • Monitors and oversees execution of program service level agreements and contractual or program requirements.

Product & Subject Matter Expertise

  • Function as subject matter expert on programs served and PPL products to share knowledge with client base both internal and external.
  • Drives to reinforce and establish expectations regarding PPL’s standard product and business offerings.
  • Identifies and acts on opportunities for communication on new products to existing and future clients.

Project & Program Management

  • Directs project requirements and client expectations among functional groups and with clients on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Directs internal project work plans through guidance to support teams’ success on deliverables with project management philosophies to bud groundwork for future projects.
  • Coordinates and communicates among multiple functional areas to address problems of high complexity.
  • Engages the team to develop plans and resolve issues through collaboration, execution, and consistency in practice.

Business Development & Account Management

  • Identifies and meets with prospective clients to share PPL’s capabilities and products and services to best align with prospects’ needs.
  • Leads sales presentations and system demonstrations on behalf of PPL.
  • Directs and coordinates proposal development research, financial analysis to provide product proposal aligned with clients’ requirements.
  • Manages internal meetings to ensure knowledge and mitigation of accounts receivable issues.

Vendor/Subcontractor Management

  • Directs and coordinates proposal development research, financial analysis to provide product proposal aligned with clients’ requirements.
  • Manages appropriate subcontractor relationships as needed.

People Leadership, Coaching & Performance Management

  • Provides leadership mentoring and guidance to direct reports through indirect or direct supervision to promote growth and development. .
  • Partners with junior level or newly hired staff for on-the-job exposure to basic daily interactions with clients and practice area for staff development and growth.
  • Ensure staff members understand the full scope of work i.e., day-to-day project priorities, level of effort, and deadlines.
  • Directs all aspects of performance management to ensure staff members are effectively performing responsibilities, delivering on deadlines, and elevating practice area with sound work.

Financial & Operational Oversight

  • Responsible for revenue and expenses related to assigned contracts.

Data-Driven Decision Making & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitors program data and make decisions to improve services to clients and stakeholders.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent client relationship management skills throughout work history.
  • Experience managing government contracts and/or working with Medicaid/vulnerable populations.
  • Demonstrated project management and proven execution of projects or efforts.
  • Proven business development and revenue generation expertise.
  • Ability to keep leadership informed about potential market, revenue, products, services, competitors, partners, clients, and opportunities.
  • Champion thought leadership, such as conference presentations, and white papers as needed.
  • Leverage contacts, relationships and competitor intelligence in business and product development leadership.
  • Ability to lead, manage and supervise a team of high-performing business development professionals.
  • Proven knowledge of the local market and competitors to develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiator.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and presentation skills. Ability to articulate thoughts and build plans to action through excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent PC skills in Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to drive with contagious initiative and move daily work forward.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree or 10 years’ experience required; Master's degree preferred.

Substantial professional experience may substitute in lieu of formal degree

Experience:

  • 9-10 years professional experience required
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Demonstrated financial and business management experience required; Knowledge of Medicaid programs and experience with state government required
  • Experience in long term care and disability services is a plus
  • Experience in contract negotiations, program management, and business to business sales.
  • None required, industry standard, and/or PMP a plus

Working Conditions:

  • Remote office setting
  • Local, statewide, and national travel required. Up to 30-50% of travel is based on business needs.


Compensation: $80,000-$120,000/Annually

Supervisory Responsibility (If applicable):

Supervisory and managerial responsibility for 1-10 staff members as defined by business needs.
