Position Summary
The Senior Accountant (General) is responsible for mainly the Accounts Payable area, like processing and monitoring payments and expenditures, booking and controlling of inventory and providing these services in an effective and efficient manner on a periodical basis. He/She will also support Accounts Receivable staff for effective, efficient, and accurate management of customers’ accounts by ensuring timely billing/issuance of invoices and close monitoring/follow up of customer payments to enable timely collections and attain maximum collection efficiency level within established framework.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Tax and Audit compliance proficiency.
- Team leading and supervising proficiency.
- Monitor and record all Trade and None Trade supplier Invoice into the ERP.
- Recording all Inventory inward transactions and maintaining proper Inventory Management.
- Process timely payments of all suppliers’ invoices, utilities, staff dues (payroll, expense claim, refund) and other payables
- Ensures all payments are properly and completely documented and approval obtained before final payment release.
- Overseeing the functions of Accounts Receivables. Checking the Sales invoices and monitoring the AR transactions.
- Checks and records Corporate Credit Card expenses.
- Communicates with suppliers and concerned recipients of any cheques/payments ready for release.
- Maintains supplier accounts, reconciles, and resolves any record discrepancies.
- Acts as a Petty Cash Custodian – takes charge of proper handling, documentation and ensures safety of the Petty Cash.
- Maintains updated record of cash book and cash balances.
- Enters all Accounts Payable related data in the system / ERP.
- Assists the Finance Manager in adhoc reporting for management, internal control, and External Audit coordination.
- Supporting Accounts receivable staff in case of his/her vacation or absence.
- Proper scrutiny of Export Letter of Credit and documents negotiation with the bank on timely basis.
- Liaising with banks for any matters related to retail and Trade Finance of the company.
- Maintaining VAT record and filing of return periodically.
Qualifications and/or Experience:
- Degree Holder – Bachelor of Accounts and Finance
- At least 5 years relevant experience in the same role in UAE
- Good knowledge and understanding of Accounts Payable/Receivables functions & Basic Accounting Principles
- Proficient and adoptable with any accounting software & Microsoft office applications (Word and Excel and Outlook)
- Can handle assigned work with less supervision.
- Strong analytical skills & keen on details.
- Good communication skills, shares ideas openly and assertively.
- Flexible and willing to do multi-tasking role when required and adapt changes for improvement.
- Must demonstrate ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively.
- Should have comprehensive knowledge of UAE VAT Law and application, Corporate Tax impacts and implementation, Basic knowledge on Trading Operation and INCO terms.
