Job Summary
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing the financial reporting, analysis, and general accounting functions of the company. This position requires a thorough understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for a range of tasks, including month-end close procedures, preparing financial statements, and supporting audit activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Month-End & Year-End Close: Manage the full cycle of the month-end close process, including preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and preparing various reports. Ensure all closing activities are completed accurately and on time.
- General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger and all associated sub-ledgers. Perform complex account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Audit & Compliance: Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation, preparing schedules, and answering auditor questions. Ensure compliance with all internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Payroll & Fixed Assets: Oversee payroll processing and ensure its accuracy. Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation calculations.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff, reviewing their work and helping with their professional development.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
- Core Competencies: Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Attention to detail is critical.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
