Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing compliance requirements, and supporting management with financial analysis and decision-making. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in handling multi-branch or trading operations.
Key Responsibilities1. Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Maintain general ledger and ensure accurate journal entries.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare management reports including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow.
2. Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Supervise AP and AR processes.
- Monitor supplier payments and customer collections.
- Reconcile vendor statements and customer accounts.
- Manage aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances.
3. Bank & Cash Management
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Monitor daily cash flow and liquidity position.
- Oversee petty cash controls and cash handling procedures.
4. Inventory & Cost Control (Important for Trading/F&B)
- Monitor stock movement and valuation.
- Reconcile physical inventory with system records.
- Analyze cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Identify wastage, shrinkage, and cost leakages.
5. Compliance & Taxation
- Ensure compliance with VAT regulations (UAE/Qatar).
- Prepare and file VAT returns.
- Coordinate with auditors and external consultants.
- Ensure compliance with local labor and commercial laws.
6. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in preparing annual budgets.
- Conduct variance analysis (Budget vs Actual).
- Provide financial insights to improve profitability.
7. Internal Controls
- Develop and implement accounting policies.
- Strengthen internal control systems.
- Ensure ERP accuracy and data integrity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
- ACCA / CPA / CMA (preferred but not mandatory).
- 5+ years of accounting experience (preferably in trading, retail, or F&B).
- Strong knowledge of VAT and GCC regulations.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Odoo, Tally, Zoho, etc.).
- Advanced Excel skills.
