GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Accountant supports the Corporate Accounting and Finance groups and is responsible for various aspects of the general ledger function, primary supporting external audits and external reporting functions as needed. This role directly reports to the Controller in the Corporate Accounting Department..


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compile, analyze, and review financial information and transactions to prepare and/or approve journal entries, transactions, and adjustments for month end close.
  • Provides analysis, reports, and reconciliations for external audits.
  • Assist in managing the monthly consolidated financial reporting close process and financial statement preparation to ensure an accurate and timely close, including management of related audit support.
  • Complete GAAP accounting standards and guidance research and apply to financial statements
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department and the firm
  • Participate in the year-end close process and prep monthly journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Support Controller and Assistant Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.
  • Prepare assigned reports and analysis and miscellaneous reports as requested.
  • Design, implement and maintain processes and internal controls to follow Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 to ensure that all transactions are valid and correctly accounted for, that all accounts and financial/management reports are complete, accurate, timely etc., and that efficiency and effectiveness are maximized.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax workpapers and supporting schedules for Corporate tax returns including federal, state and local tax filings.
  • Prepare ancillary tax filings including personal property, franchise, sales and use tax.
  • Building and maintaining automated reporting tools using advance excel function, pivot tables, and data visualization as needed.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve financial reporting and analysis capabilities.


EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in public accounting strongly preferred or related experience.
  • Experience in GAAP, including practical application and research of accounting standards.
  • Experience analyzing data and summarizing findings.
  • Experience with accounting systems and databases - specifically Oracle or NetSuite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • CPA or CPA candidates, with experience in partnership and local taxation strongly preferred.
  • Advance Microsoft Excel skills including advanced functions, modeling and automation.
