Senior Accountant

Role Description

This is a part-time, on-site role located in the Washington DC-Baltimore Area. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing financial activities, such as preparing financial statements, maintaining general ledgers, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Additionally, the role will involve analyzing financial data to identify trends, supporting audits, and contributing to budgeting and forecasting processes.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll

  • Approve biweekly and monthly payroll.
  • Maintain employee records, deductions, and adjustments
  • Prepare and submit quarterly estimated tax payments
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings (federal, state, local)
  • Reconcile payroll liability accounts monthly
  • Ensure compliance with wage laws and internal policies
  • Prepare W-2s, 1099s and year-end payroll adjustments

General Accounting

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Maintain the general ledger and support month‑end close
  • Track accruals, prepaid expenses, and recurring entries

Financial Support

  • Oversee work of accountant
  • Identify necessary accruals and adjustments for accurate reporting
  • Prepare schedules and documentation for the CFO (quarterly and year‑end)
  • Assist with audit requests and compliance reviews
  • Support the CFO with ad‑hoc financial analysis and reporting

Qualifications

  • Expertise in General Ledger accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Experience in Financial Reporting, Budgeting, and Forecasting
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software and Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote, team-oriented environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification is a plus
  • Prior experience in non-profit or healthcare industries preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
