Senior Accountant

Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity to lead complex accounting functions, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to the financial integrity of our organization. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a critical role in managing financial reporting, maintaining accurate general ledger records, and supporting strategic financial initiatives. Your expertise in various accounting disciplines will drive efficiency, accuracy, and transparency across all financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and general ledger accounting to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely processing and accurate account reconciliation.
  • Oversee cash management activities, including forecasting, cash flow analysis, and bank reconciliations using financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms.
  • Support internal controls by ensuring adherence to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance standards and assisting with audits related to governmental and non-profit organizations.
  • Prepare regulatory reports and assist with external audits by providing detailed documentation and explanations of financial data.
  • Collaborate on budgeting processes, financial analysis, and forecasting to support organizational planning and decision-making.
  • Utilize technical accounting knowledge to resolve complex accounting issues related to payroll, governmental accounting standards, or non-profit accounting practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, account reconciliation procedures, and financial management best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • Proven experience in public accounting or corporate accounting roles with a focus on general ledger accounting, regulatory reporting, and account reconciliation.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance standards, and governmental or non-profit accounting practices.
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or similar platforms; experience with financial management tools is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed financial analysis, prepare comprehensive financial reports, and communicate complex concepts clearly.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Strong technical accounting skills including knowledge of cash flow management, account reconciliation techniques, budgeting processes and forecasting methods.
