ADMINISTRATION

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT, Full-Time, $80,000 to $95,000 per year, DOE

Responsible for overseeing various accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to management. The Senior Staff Accountant will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, maintain accurate financial records, and contribute to the organization's overall success. Duties include:

  • Prepare and post journal entries with proper supporting documentation, including payroll entries
  • Ensure that accounts payable invoices are posted to the correct GL account(s) and paid on time
  • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
  • Ensure that the monthly general ledger and bank reconciliations are completed
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation calculations
  • Ensure that accurate and timely financial statements are produced and distributed in conformity with corporate policies and procedures and with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Prepare various Board pages, including Cash Flow, Occupancy & Statistics, and Capital Expenditures
  • Assist the Controller with the state cost report
  • Completes the 571L Business Property Statement, quarterly sales tax report, annual payroll taxes, and SUI taxes
  • Assists the Controller with the annual operating budget
  • Assists the Controller and CFO by providing schedules and supporting documentation to external auditors for the following audits: Financial, Workers' Compensation, and the 403(b) plan.

We require:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or equivalent business experience
  • Knowledge of accounting, GAAP, and payroll
  • Knowledge of personnel practices and theories, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Five years of increasingly responsible professional accounting and finance experience, preferably inclusive of non-profit accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
