Senior Accountant

About Siegel Solutions

Siegel Solutions is a Massachusetts-based outsourced accounting and accounting-technology firm founded in 2003. We provide outsourced bookkeeping, advisory services, QuickBooks consulting, file cleanup, migrations, and third-party app integrations, and we resell and implement Acumatica ERP. We are a Top 100 QuickBooks ProAdvisor firm, an Authorized Intuit Enterprise Suite Reseller, and an Acumatica Gold Partner.

Our team of 15 works the way good accounting should be done — with technology doing the heavy lifting and experienced people applying judgment, asking the right questions, and standing behind the numbers. We are a firm that believes in human-reviewed accounting, not hands-off automation.

The Opportunity

We are hiring a Senior Accountant who can independently own our most complicated clients. This is not a data-entry seat. It is the role that lets a sophisticated client trust us with multi-entity books, messy histories, and real advisory questions — and lets the firm grow without the owner being the bottleneck on every hard problem.

The right person owns outcomes: they manage a portfolio of 8-12 clients to a clean, on-time close, catch problems before clients do, and are a calm, credible voice when something looks off. The portfolio is weighted toward complex and multi-entity engagements. There is occasional travel for onboarding and select client visits.

This person reports to the Manager of Accounting Services.

What You Will Do

  •  Own the full-cycle accounting and month-end close for a portfolio of complex clients, including multi-entity and consolidated engagements.
  •  Perform and review reconciliations that go well beyond the bank feed — accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, intercompany, and balance-sheet substantiation.
  •  Lead file cleanup and diagnostic work on troubled QuickBooks files: undeposited funds, stale A/R and A/P, mis-categorizations, and prior-period corrections.
  •  Handle cash-to-accrual conversions and apply judgment on which basis fits a given client.
  •  Prepare and interpret financial reporting, and explain variances and results to business owners who are not accountants.
  •  Identify when a client has outgrown QuickBooks and partner with the team on migration and ERP conversations.
  •  Document and improve the processes and checklists behind every engagement you touch.
  •  Coordinate with our Manager of Accounting Services and offshore team, so client work is delivered accurately and on schedule.

Required Qualifications

  •  7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3–4 years in a multi-client environment (public accounting, an outsourced or fractional firm, or a controller role across multiple entities).
  •  Demonstrated full-cycle accounting and month-end close ownership, including accruals, fixed assets, intercompany, and multi-entity consolidation.
  •  Deep, hands-on QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop experience — not just data entry, but troubleshooting, cleanup, and knowing where QuickBooks breaks down.
  •  Proven ability to manage a portfolio of clients simultaneously and hit deadlines without close supervision.
  •  Strong client-facing communication — able to explain financial results clearly to non-accountant business owners.
  •  Self-directed and disciplined in a remote or hybrid setting; works from checklists and escalates appropriately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Accounting is required, Master's of Business Administration (MBA), Master's of Accounting is preferred
  • CPA or CMA designation — valued as a signal of discipline, though not required for this seat.
  • QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification, or readiness to certify quickly.
  • Experience with cleanup, migration, and conversion projects.
  • Familiarity with the QuickBooks app ecosystem (bill pay, expense, payroll, and reporting tools).
  • Exposure to Acumatica or another mid-market ERP — our complex clients are the ones most likely to outgrow QuickBooks.

Who Thrives Here

Our core values describe the kind of teammate who does well at Siegel Solutions:

  • Ask the Why — curious about the business behind the numbers, not just the task in front of you.
  • Part of the Pack — collaborative, reliable, and generous with what you know.
  •  Create a Positive Experience — clients and teammates feel better after working with you.
  • Act with a Purpose — deliberate, organized, and focused on what matters.
  • Growth Mindset — you teach yourself new tools and get better every quarter.

How to Apply

Qualified candidates should submit a resume and a brief note describing a complicated client situation they personally untangled. Strong candidates will be invited to complete a short, paid skills assessment using a sample QuickBooks Online file. We require that the candidate live locally, either in MA, ME or NH as there may be some required client visits.
