Senior Accountant – Engineering Consultancy

K5 Engineering Consultants is a growing engineering consultancy firm based in Ajman, delivering professional design, supervision, and infrastructure consultancy services across the UAE. We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Accountant with strong UAE experience in engineering consultancy or construction environments.

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, VAT compliance, project cost tracking, and internal financial controls. The ideal candidate must have hands-on UAE experience in engineering consultancy or construction companies and strong knowledge of IFRS and UAE VAT regulations.

This role requires accuracy, leadership capability, and the ability to manage project-based financial reporting within strict deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards
• Ensure full compliance with UAE VAT regulations and statutory requirements
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and government filings on time
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and proper classification of transactions
• Support internal and external audits

Daily Accounting Operations

• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, supplier payments, subcontractor settlements, and client invoicing
• Conduct bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow
• Review payment requests, invoices, and expense claims
• Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures

Project & Cost Control Accounting

• Track project-related costs and ensure accurate cost allocation
• Monitor consultant billing cycles and retention payments
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Provide financial insights to management for project profitability

Internal Controls & Process Improvement

• Implement strong financial controls and procedures
• Improve accounting systems and departmental workflows
• Ensure proper documentation and archiving of financial records

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of UAE accounting experience
• Mandatory experience in Engineering Consultancy or Construction companies in the UAE
• Strong knowledge of IFRS standards and UAE VAT laws
• Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting systems
• Advanced MS Excel skills
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• English required; Arabic preferred
• Immediate joiners or short notice candidates preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• IFRS certification and/or CMA certification
• Experience managing junior accounting staff
• Experience in project-based accounting environments
