ROLE SUMMARY

Dogtra is seeking a hands-on, proactive, and detail-oriented, Senior Accountant to support our finance operations as we continue to grow. This role will be responsible for executing and overseeing core accounting functions, supporting monthly and annual close process, strengthening internal controls, and delivering accurate and timely financial reporting.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can operate independently with minimal oversight from the CFO, has strong technical accounting skills, can take full ownership of the work, and consistently follows through on deliverables. This individual should be comfortable identifying issues, proposing solutions, and driving improvements without needing direction on day-to-day responsibilities.

This position requires at least five years of progressive accounting experience across multiple functional areas. A high level of diligence, accountability, attention to detail, and strong communication skills are required with strong written and verbal communication skills. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO)

  • Lead and manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness with minimal supervision
  • Prepare and review financial statements and internal reporting packages for management
  • Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and proactively investigate and resolve discrepancies (bank accounts, AR/AP, inventory, prepaid expenses, etc.)
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing actuals and variance analysis
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, identifying gaps and implementing process improvements
  • Serve as the key point of contact for external auditors and CPA firm during year-end close and tax preparation
  • Partner with other departments as needed, including collaboration with Operations team to reconcile inventory and resolve discrepancies
  • Oversee and monitor accounts payable/receivable aging reports and support collection efforts as needed including coordination with Customer Service team
  • Support cash flow monitoring and assist with basic treasury functions (cash positioning, tracking inflows/outflows)
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
  • Maintain confidential files and records for assigned area of responsibility
  • Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Support special projects as needed (e.g., system upgrades, cost analysis, ad hoc reporting)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Management

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience

· Solid understanding of GAAP

· High level of accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail

· Strong MS Excel and other Microsoft Office skills

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, small-team environment

· Proven ability to be proactive, take ownership, and execute with minimal supervision from senior leadership

· Hands-on approach with strong diligence and follow-through on all responsibilities

Preferred:

· Proven expertise in preparing accurate full financial statements and comprehensive management reporting packages

· Highly-skilled in accounting software, Excel, and modern ERP systems (D365, SAP Business One, or similar ERP systems)

· Experience supporting audits and working with external auditors/CPAs

· EDI knowledge

· Experience with Shopify B2B/B2C

· Bilingual in Korean
