Why does the job exist?

The Senior Accountant will:
Provide administrative support for all Administrative Services Division (ASD) Bureaus and customer service to various state agencies and vendors;

Work alongside each division and assist in the day-to-day business operations of the Health Care Authority (HCA);

Ensure the accuracy of financial control and reporting activities, prevent potential hefty fines and identify risks.

How does it get done?

The Senior Accountant is responsible for:
Reviewing and updating Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Directives and HMAP's; adhering to DFA MAPs in addition to state and federal guidelines;

Processing SHARE HCM access requests;

Running and analyzing SHARE HCM quires;

Ensuring division compliance for all employee required training through Blackboard and SHARE ELM;

Performing as ASD Records Liaison;

Maintaining office equipment (copy machines, printers, phones, computers, etc.) ;

Serving as back up for:
Daily pick up/delivery of documents between HCA divisions and other state agencies, as well as bank deposits;

Tracking vehicle usage, gas card policy forms, vehicle abuse, suspended drivers and defensive driving certificates;

Point of contact routing documents for signature.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration and two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and/or budgeting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain valid driver's license.

Must obtain a Defensive driving certification.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
