Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to independently manage end-to-end bookkeeping and accounting for multiple clients. The role requires strong hands-on experience with accounting software, reconciliations, financial reporting, and client communication.
This position is suitable for professionals who can own accounting deliverables independently, manage timelines, and maintain high accuracy while working with international clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage end-to-end bookkeeping for assigned clients.
- Set up and maintain chart of accounts and tax configurations in accounting software.
- Process transactions using QuickBooks Online / Xero and related applications such as Dext / Hubdoc.
- Handle bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations with minimal supervision.
- Prepare and resolve bank queries and suspense accounts by coordinating with clients via email.
- Perform inventory and COGS reconciliations, including in-transit inventory and advance supplier payments.
- Prepare, review, and finalize monthly financial reports and summaries.
- Develop KPI dashboards and financial insights for business owners and management.
- Prepare year-end financial statements and supporting schedules for tax accountants.
- Pass year-end adjustment entries and reconcile trial balances with tax returns provided by tax consultants.
- Track tax payable timelines and ensure timely compliance coordination.
- Plan and execute monthly accounting tasks, managing requirements, steps, and deliverables within defined timelines.
Day-to-Day Work & Collaboration
- Review and manage daily client email communication independently.
- Plan daily tasks, prioritize deliverables, and collaborate with internal teams.
- Manage 2–3 clients per day based on predefined deliverables.
- Share daily progress updates with the reporting manager.
- Ensure quality checks and accuracy before final submission of deliverables.
Must-Have Skills & Qualifications
Education
- B.Com / M.Com / BBA (Finance) or equivalent accounting qualification.
Experience
- 2-3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles.
- Prior experience in outsourced accounting / public practice environment is required.
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online and/or Xero.
- Solid understanding of full-cycle bookkeeping.
- Strong reconciliation skills (bank, credit card, loan, inventory).
- Good working knowledge of Excel and accounting MIS.
Professional Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle client communication independently via email.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple clients with minimal supervision.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Hands-on experience with Canadian accounting and taxation (GST/HST/PST, Payroll, Corporate Tax).
- Experience with tools such as Dext, Hubdoc, Plooto, Fathom, ADP.
- Knowledge of payroll processing and statutory compliance (T4/T4A/T5, workers’ compensation).
- Familiarity with CRA portal filings and compliance processes.
- Comfort working with collaboration tools like Google Drive, Slack, MS Teams, Zoom.
Performance Expectations
- Ability to independently manage assigned clients within the first 90 days.
- Timely and accurate delivery of financial reports and accounting tasks.
- Minimal rework or errors in deliverables.
- Professional client communication with positive feedback.
- Effective task and deadline management across multiple accounts.
Shift Timings:
- Monday to Friday: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
- Saturday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
