Senior Accounting Manager

Location  Remote

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly driven  Senior Accounting Manager  to join a high-growth, dynamic organization and report directly to the  Chief Financial Officer (CFO) . This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with a strong foundation in  public accounting  who thrives in fast-paced environments and is eager to build, scale, and improve accounting operations.

The Senior Accounting Manager will take ownership of the company’s core accounting functions, including financial close, reporting, payroll oversight, and compliance. This individual will lead a  small but high-performing team , drive process improvements, and play a key role in enhancing financial systems and controls. This is a high-visibility role with significant  growth potential  as the organization continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage  day-to-day accounting operations , including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
• Oversee and optimize the  monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes  to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
• Prepare and review  financial statements  in accordance with GAAP, delivering insights to senior leadership
• Partner closely with the CFO on  financial reporting, strategic initiatives, and operational improvements
• Supervise, mentor, and develop a  small accounting team , fostering accountability, growth, and continuous improvement
• Ensure accuracy in  payroll review and approval , maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations
• Drive  monthly financial analysis , including variance and trend analysis, to support decision-making
• Establish, enhance, and enforce  internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
• Lead coordination with  external auditors and tax advisors  for audits and compliance matters
• Oversee  state and local tax compliance  and filings
• Champion  process improvement initiatives , automation, and efficiencies across accounting functions
• Play a key role in  systems optimization and implementations , leveraging strong ERP experience
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support business initiatives and improve financial visibility
• Lead or support  special projects and strategic initiatives  as the company scales

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;  CPA strongly preferred
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience , including  public accounting (Big 4 or regional firm preferred)
• Minimum  3+ years of management experience , including leading and developing small teams
• Strong knowledge of  U.S. GAAP  and financial reporting requirements
• Demonstrated experience working in  high-growth, fast-paced environments
• Proven track record of being  hands-on while also leading strategically
