Senior AI Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AI Engineer to join our growing AI & Innovation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining advanced AI and machine learning solutions that enhance our healthcare technology ecosystem. This role requires deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to lead AI initiatives from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect scalable solutions: select appropriate models, data flows, infrastructure, deployment patterns to deliver production‑grade generative AI in a regulated healthcare environment.
• Work closely with product leadership, clinical informatics, compliance and operations to identify high‑value use cases, translate them into deliverables and connect AI outcomes to business/clinical impact (e.g., reduced admin burden, improved documentation quality, faster appeals).
• Own model governance: data provenance, bias mitigation, ethical and clinical safety review, regulatory compliance for AI systems handling PHI.
• Manage model deployment, monitoring, lifecycle management: versioning, drift detection, rollback strategies, performance tracking, governance dashboards.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement: evaluate new generative‑AI and NLP techniques, build proof‑of‑concepts, propose product enhancements and present to leadership.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (BS) in Machine Learning, AI, Computer Science or related field. MS in the same domain is a plus.
• Experience building AI systems certified for clinical or reimbursement workflows (e.g., appeals automation).
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience developing production‑grade AI/ML systems, with at least 2+ years leading or architecture‑level in generative AI/LLMs.
• Proven record of deploying LLM‑based solutions in the wild (particularly for enterprise/healthcare settings).
• Deep expertise in NLP, LLM fine‑tuning, embeddings, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks.
• Strong software engineering ability (Python, frameworks like PyTorch/TensorFlow, HF Transformers, MLops platforms).
• Experience working with healthcare data (EHR, claims, clinical notes), knowledge of healthcare workflows, standards (HIPAA, HL7/FHIR, CPT/ICD).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP/Vertex AI, AWS, Azure) and scalable microservices architecture.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder‑management skills; able to translate between technical and business domains.
• Prior leadership or significant role in a health‑tech or med‑AI company.
