Senior AI Engineer

The Senior AI Lead will spearhead the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI solutions while remaining deeply hands-on with coding, architecture, and model experimentation. This role requires a strong technical expert who can lead by example—writing high-quality code, conducting complex model research, and guiding the team in solving challenging AI problems.

The ideal candidate balances leadership with active technical contribution, ensuring the delivery of high-impact AI systems that align with business objectives.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Ownership (Primary)

• Actively design, build, and optimize machine learning and GenAI models (LLMs, NLP, CV, predictive models, etc.).
• Write production-grade code in Python and contribute to core AI frameworks, pipelines, and APIs.
• Develop data processing and feature engineering pipelines end-to-end.
• Implement MLOps workflows including model serving, monitoring, retraining, and versioning.
• Build RAG pipelines, vector database integrations, embeddings, and LLM-based applications.
• Conduct experimentation, hyperparameter tuning, model evaluation, and performance benchmarking.
• Review and improve code quality, architecture decisions, and research approaches.

AI Strategy & Leadership

• Define the AI roadmap and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Mentor and guide ML engineers, data scientists, and AI developers.
• Set technical standards and ensure best practices for architecture, model lifecycle, and deployment.
• Drive innovation through POCs, research, and evaluation of new technologies.

Architecture & System Design

• Architect scalable AI systems that integrate seamlessly with existing product and cloud infrastructure.
• Work closely with engineering teams to deploy AI services via APIs, microservices, and containerized environments.
• Ensure models meet latency, throughput, and reliability requirements.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Leadership to scope projects and define KPIs.
• Explain complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders in business-friendly language.
• Lead AI discussions, demos, and strategic alignment sessions.

Research & Innovation

• Stay updated with advancements in AI/ML, LLMs, prompt engineering, transformers, and new architectures.
• Explore new tools and frameworks to improve team efficiency and model performance.

Required QualificationsTechnical Skills

• 6–10+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML engineering and model development.
• Strong expertise in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, LLMs, Transformers, NLP, Computer Vision, and GenAI frameworks.
• Solid experience with data engineering concepts, ETL pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Deep understanding of vector databases, embeddings, RAG, LangChain/LlamaIndex, and model fine-tuning.
• Proficiency in system design, architecture, microservices, APIs, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Strong grasp of algorithms, statistics, probability, and ML fundamentals.

Leadership & Management

• Experience leading technical teams while remaining hands-on.
• Ability to drive complex AI projects from concept to production.
• Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in AI/ML, Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields.
• Experience building large-scale AI systems for enterprise products.
• Knowledge of responsible AI, security, compliance, and performance optimization.
