Job Location: Remote, prefer the candidate is in Springfield, VA, Littleton, CO or Spring Lake, NC

Travel Requirement: Up to 25%

Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance required

Citizenship: US Citizenship required

We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior AI Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in algorithm development, coding, data modeling, and data architecture, with a passion for applying innovative data science techniques to solve complex defense-related problems. As a Senior AI Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing advanced AI and machine learning applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams, integrating AI/ML into our current products and providing guidance and direction to junior AI Engineers to optimize business processes and drive innovation.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of full-stack machine learning and generative AI applications tailored to meet business needs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with domain experts to translate business requirements into technical specifications and solutions.
  • Prototyping: Develop prototypes to assess technology readiness and guide the scaling of promising solutions into production-ready applications.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Model Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize machine learning models and algorithms to improve performance and accuracy.
  • Integration: Collaborate with ai engineers, data scientists, software developers, ux/ui and product managers to integrate AI solutions into existing products and develop new features.
  • Design and optimize data architecture and infrastructure to support efficient data storage, processing, and analysis.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in data science, machine learning, and defense technology
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders through clear and compelling presentations and reports.
Requirements:
  • Active Secret security clearance (interim OK)
  • Master’s degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience (10+ years experience preferred)
  • Experience with many types of AI/ML modeling methods and algorithms for solving practical problems
  • Expertise with DoD related domains, such as cybersecurity, intelligence analysis, or military operations
  • Proven experience in coding (Python, R, Go, Java, etc.) and software development, with a focus on data manipulation and analysis
  • Strong background in machine learning, statistical modeling, and data visualization techniques
  • Experience with data architecture, database design, and data warehousing concepts
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously with just the right amount of guidance

Salary Range

The proposed salary range is reflective across all Sherpa 6 locations, years of experience, and skill levels. Salary negotiations will be based on a host of factors including but not limited to your geographic location, prior experience, relevant skills, education, and certifications.
