Job Description – Senior AI/ML Engineer & Python Developer

1. Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior AI/ML Engineer (with strong Python expertise) to build AI-first capabilities for our Unified Intelligent Digital Health Platform. This role blends deep AI/ML expertise with production-grade Python development. You will drive innovative GenAI, RAG-based assistants, predictive health models, and scalable backend services that power personalized digital health experiences for millions of users.
You will work across NLP, LLMs, clinical ontology models, knowledge graphs, vector search, Inference engine, ML microservices, and event-driven pipelines within a multi-tenant, secure, healthcare-grade cloud platform.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. AI/ML Engineering (Core Responsibility)
Model Development & Research
- Design, train, and optimize ML/DL models for:
- Women’s health, preventive health analytics, risk prediction
- NLP (symptom extraction, clinical summarization, entity recognition)
- LLM-based conversational agents, health companion bots
- Recommendation systems (care plans, lifestyle recommendations)
Generative AI & RAG Systems
- Build domain-specific LLM applications with:
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- Vector DBs (Pinecone / Qdrant / Weaviate)
- Knowledge graphs, semantic search
- Custom embedding pipelines for medical corpora
Production ML Systems
- Develop and deploy scalable ML microservices using Python & FastAPI.
- Implement MLOps (MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow, SageMaker, ZenML).
- Model monitoring, drift detection, and real-time inference optimization.
Data Engineering Collaboration
- Partner with data engineers to build feature stores, ETL pipelines, and curated datasets.
- Ensure data quality, privacy, and compliance (HIPAA-like, PHI/PII masking).
B. Python Development (Backend & Platform Services)
Backend Engineering
- Build Python-based microservices using FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- Implement health data workflows, rule engines, device integration adapters, and secure APIs.
- Contribute to synchronous and event-driven architectures (Kafka / AWS SNS/SQS).
System Architecture & Scaling
- Design modular backend components for a multi-tenant SaaS health platform.
- Implement authentication, RBAC, audit logs, quota management, and platform observability.
Data Handling & Storage
- Work with SQL/NoSQL (PostgreSQL, MongoDB), S3, caching layers, Redis, time-series DBs.
- Optimize performance for ingestion, transformations, and retrieval.
DevOps & Cloud (Good to Have)
- Work on containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm).
- Build CI/CD automation for AI and backend services.
- Deploy and optimize workloads on AWS.
3. Required Skills & Qualifications
Core Technical Skills
- Excellent Python development skills (OOP, async programming, design patterns).
- Deep understanding of ML/DL algorithms:
- Transformers, embeddings, NLP pipelines
- Time-series forecasting
- Classification, clustering, recommendation models
- Experience with frameworks:
- PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn
- HuggingFace, LangChain
- Strong background in:
- GenAI, LLM integration
- RAG systems & vector databases
- Model optimization, quantization, and inference efficiency
- Experience with REST APIs, microservices, and ML microservices.
- Strong experience with AWS (SageMaker, Lambda, S3, EC2, IAM).
Data & Platform Skills
- SQL/NoSQL, Parquet, data modeling
- Data pipelines, ETL/ELT, streaming
- API Gateway and secure API design
- Experience with healthcare/clinical datasets is a plus
- (ICD-10, FHIR, SNOMED CT, medical ontologies)
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving
- Excellent communication — explain AI to product, clinical, and engineering teams
- Ownership mindset, startup adaptability
- Ability to work cross-functionally with design, product, and engineering
4. Preferred Experience (Bonus but Not Mandatory)
- Experience in digital health / wellness / FemTech
- Building RAG + LLM-based health assistants
- Exposure to clinical workflows and regulatory frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR)
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms
- Prior startup experience or research publications
- Contributions to patents, open-source, or internal innovation initiatives
5. Education
- B.Tech / M.Tech / MS / PhD in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science or related fields
- Equivalent industry experience is also considered
