The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Senior Airport Equipment Mechanic position. This recruitment may be used to hire for various areas within the Facilities division including, but not limited to, Baggage Handling System (BHS) and Airport Equipment Systems (AES). This position provides work direction and training of skilled and semi-skilled employees on a day-to-day basis and performs journey-level mechanical work throughout Harry Reid International Airport that supports the operation of the airport, which includes the maintenance and repair of highly complex luggage movement systems. Additionally, this position performs mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and problem diagnosis. The Senior Airport Equipment Mechanic for the BHS position has a concentration on the highly complex luggage movement system and will require the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and perform problem diagnosis of multiple different systems.
This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Employee Services.

Education and Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and equivalent to successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an electrician, HVAC or facility mechanic or a related trade, and three (3) years of full-time skilled experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of building operating systems and facilities. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted for an apprenticeship program on a year-for-year basis. Attendance at a recognized trade school is desirable.

Customs and Border Protection Security Seal Program: Employment with the Department of Aviation in this job title is contingent upon a ten (10) year employment and five (5) year residency history record check and the ability to present original identity based documentation in order to meet the requirements for a Security Seal.
Mobility to work in a typical shop or related maintenance setting, including operating typical trade equipment, hand and power tools and standard office equipment, and to drive a motor vehicle to various work sites; stamina to stand, walk and climb and to work in confined or awkward spaces for an extended period of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds with proper equipment; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over a radio or telephone.
