The Sr Application Engineer within Consulting Services Specialty Hardware and Protection team will play a key role in leading and managing the specification and engineering of specialty products and ensure integration with GEV Heavy Duty and Aero business processes.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the specification, design, manufacturing, settings, testing and/or field commissioning of specialty or custom protection and control hardware.
- Lead and support the fulfilment process and customer deliverables, including procurement, inventory, preparation of bill of materials, drawings, O&M manual, shipment, etc
- Assess the readiness of GEV and other OEM equipment to interface CS solutions, and any required modifications, and convey customer value propositions.
- Support the development of detailed technical and commercial offerings by retrieving and analyzing shaft line info and associated instrumentations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, electric power engineering or related field.
- At least 5 years’ experience with managing low voltage electrical equipment designs, modifications, instrumentations.
- At least 5 years’ experience with managing single-line and three-line wiring diagrams and AC/DC schematics.
- At least 4 years of experience with managing electrical, mechanical and accessories design documentation and preparing technical information to help support specification of torsional solutions.
- At least 4 years of experience with project management.
- Willingness and ability to travel (up to 20%) domestic and internationally.
Desired Characteristics
- Understanding of controls concepts for grid-interactive power systems equipment and controls, torsional analysis, torque, resonances.
- Familiarity with product design life cycle, including factory acceptance and commissioning testing.
- Previous experience with design, manufacturing, settings, installation, testing and maintenance of protection and control equipment, including ToolboxST/ControlST programming, ladder logic, or ability to convert flow charts into code.
- Experience with power equipment modeling and simulation in software analytic tools such as ETAP, EasyPower, ATP, PSLF, PSS/E, MATLAB, DigSilent PowerFactory, Python, PSCAD and C.
- Understanding of synchronous generators, transformers, circuit breakers, generator protection, closed loop voltage regulator controls, governor and power/frequency control, shunt and series applications of capacitors, synchronous condensers, power electronic converters for renewable energy and industrial applications.
- Graduate of EEDP or other leadership development program.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
