Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Automation SPM Assembly Fitter to join our Special Purpose Machine (SPM) and automation manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in mechanical assembly, automation integration, and machine alignment. This role involves assembling, fitting, and testing of automated SPMs and subassemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical assembly and fitting of SPMs and automation machines as per engineering drawings, assembly layouts, and work instructions.
- Carry out precision alignment and fitting of automation components such as actuators, gearboxes, guideways, cylinders, and motion elements.
- Install and fit pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical components used in automation systems.
- Collaborate with the automation, electrical, and design teams during assembly and integration stages.
- Perform trials, testing, and debugging of assembled machines to ensure smooth operation.
- Assist in in-house fabrication and rework activities such as drilling, tapping, grinding, and minor machining.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and machine commissioning at customer sites when required.
- Ensure that all assemblies meet dimensional accuracy, alignment, and functional standards.
- Maintain tools, jigs, fixtures, and ensure proper housekeeping of the assembly area.
- Adhere to safety standards and continuous improvement initiatives in the assembly process.
Qualifications & Experience
- ITI Fitter / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical assembly and fitting of SPMs or automation equipment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical drawings, BOMs, and assembly tolerances.
- Skilled in using measuring instruments (vernier, micrometer, dial gauge, height gauge, etc.) and alignment tools (laser, dial indicator, etc.).
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic circuits, sensors, and automation components preferred.
- Familiar with GD&T, mechanical tolerances, and machine assembly practices.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a project-oriented environment.
