Senior Auditor - Projects & Engineering (BR)

Key Responsibilities

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Actively participate in the development of the three-year Audit Universe and Risk Coverage framework in the area of Engineering, Reliability and Maintenance and Refining and other technical areas within the group.
• Provide assurance from a multi-disciplinary point of view, on the technical, financial, commercial, economics, operations, environmental, legal, marketing and any other relevant aspects of the technical areas to ensure compliance with applicable internal policies and procedures.
• Perform each individual audit as assigned to achieve the timely completion of the annual audit plan.
• Conduct appropriate audit field work related to the business process under review.
• Recommend changes to existing or implementation of new processes and controls to facilitate business process improvements
• Explore alternatives to conventional approaches in business processes and respond with innovative solutions using research, intuition and fresh perspectives to improve efficiency.
• Act as an internal business consultant particularly to provide governance advice for business processes.
• Plan, coordinate and manage each individual audit autonomously to achieve the timely completion of the Annual Audit Plan.
• Finalize all audit observations with relevant Managers, Vice Presidents, Senior Vice president, and Executive Vice President to ensure a collaborative audit process.
• Assist the External Auditors and the Auditors from the National Audit Office to facilitate their review of the company's financial statements and the management systems.
• Carry out risk assessment to decide on the criticality as per risk matrix and identify significant audit observations for reporting to Head of Audit - Bapco Refining (HABR).
• Follow-up on the implementation status of Agreed Management Actions on a quarterly basis with relevant stakeholders as directed by HABR.
• Identify the training needs for self-development to assist HABR in maintaining adequate audit competencies in the department.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Civil Engineering or equivalent Professional Audit and Accounting Certifications such as CIA/CPA/ACCA/CFA not required but desirable.
• Successful candidates should be prepared to undertake the CIA exam sponsored by the function.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar would be an advantage.
• Minimum 10 years+ of operational experience in capital intensive industrial projects within business planning, development, financing, execution and the close out phases OR 10 years+ of operational experience in operating a wide variety of industrial process units, including equipment such as columns, exchangers, pumps, furnaces, valves, process lines, and similar OR 8 years+ of project performance audit experience including feasibility, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), detailed engineering, construction and the close out phases, preferably in a large company.
• Sound knowledge of upstream and downstream technical/Operational and financial business processes in the oil & gas sector including power generation.
• Knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management, Risk Based Internal Auditing (RBIA) and Best Practice Auditing Techniques.
• Familiarity with Global Internal Audit (GIA) Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Sound knowledge of use of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to plan and schedule audit work and carry out analysis work of a complex nature under the guidance of the Head of Audit or Senior Auditor.
• Excellent planning and organization skills.
