Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Security Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure cloud environments across our Microsoft Azure ecosystem. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Azure security architecture, identity management, compliance frameworks, and cloud threat protection. This role reports to the Solutions Architect and partners with Infrastructure, DevOps, Compliance, and Application Development teams to ensure our platforms meet the highest security and governance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cloud Security Architecture & Engineering
    Design and maintain secure Azure architectures aligned with Microsoft and industry best practices. Configure and manage Azure AD/Entra ID, RBAC/Privileged Identity Management, NSGs, Key Vault, and related services. Develop secure configurations, identity controls, and access-governance standards.
  • Compliance & Governance
    Align environments with SOC 2 and ISO 27001; implement, document, and validate cloud security controls to support governance and audit readiness. Collaborate with Security & Compliance on policies, procedures, and technical standards.
  • Security Operations & Monitoring
    Deploy, configure, and manage Microsoft Defender for Cloud and Microsoft Sentinel. Implement proactive threat detection, vulnerability management, and continuous monitoring; lead incident investigation, response, and remediation.
  • Troubleshooting & Support
    Diagnose complex issues across identity, network, and application layers; guide engineering teams on secure development/deployment; perform root-cause analysis and drive long-term fixes.

Primary Requirement — Microsoft Security Copilot Expertise
  • Hands-on configuring Copilot for Security (standalone and embedded in Defender XDR, Sentinel, Entra, Intune, Purview), including plugin enablement and promptbook design for repeatable incident response workflows.
  • Operate natural language to KQL hunting, interpret results, generate visualizations and observations, and convert guidance into Logic Apps/SOAR playbooks.
  • Govern Copilot RBAC/workspaces, set data sharing preferences, and optimize Security Compute Unit (SCU) capacity (provisioned vs overage) while monitoring usage dashboards and cost.
  • Enforce data security and compliance with Microsoft Purview (sensitivity labels/DLP), SharePoint scoping, and Conditional Access; apply Responsible AI and prompt-hygiene practices to mitigate prompt-injection risks.
  • Deliver measurable outcomes such as MTTR reduction, incident response SLA improvements, and audit-ready evidence and reporting.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • 5+ years in Azure cloud security or related roles.
  • Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure security architecture and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Azure AD/Entra ID, Conditional Access, Identity Governance
  • RBAC, Privileged Identity Management
  • Network Security Groups (NSGs), network segmentation
  • Azure Key Vault and secrets management
  • Strong understanding of compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001).
  • Experience with Defender and Sentinel (analytics rules, hunting, playbooks, automation).
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and incident response skills.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and mentoring skills.

Preferred Certifications / Tools
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate; CISSP/CISM.
  • KQL proficiency for Sentinel hunting; Power Automate/Logic Apps; GitHub/Azure DevOps for workflow automation.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Purview and Entra ID advanced features.
