We are seeking a skilled and passionate Senior Barista to join our team. The Senior Barista will be responsible for leading the FOH team in delivering exceptional coffee experiences and maintaining the highest standards of service in our café. This role requires expertise in coffee preparation, customer service, team leadership, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coffee & Beverage Preparation: Prepare and serve a variety of high-quality coffee drinks, including espresso-based beverages, specialty drinks, and non-coffee options. Ensure consistency and quality in every cup.
- Team Leadership: Lead, train, and mentor a team of junior baristas. Provide ongoing guidance on coffee preparation techniques, customer service, and café operations. Ensure the team works efficiently and maintains high morale.
- Customer Service Excellence: Provide exceptional customer service, greet and engage with customers, handle complaints or concerns with professionalism, and ensure a friendly and welcoming café atmosphere.
- Inventory & Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other necessary supplies. Assist in ordering and ensuring that stock levels are maintained without overstocking or shortages.
- Maintaining Equipment: Ensure that all coffee equipment is in good working order. Regularly clean and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other tools. Troubleshoot any issues and arrange for repairs when necessary.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all food safety and hygiene standards are met and maintained. Follow cleanliness and safety protocols in all aspects of café operation.
- Menu & Product Development: Contribute ideas for new coffee drinks, menu items, or seasonal specials. Assist in tasting and selecting new coffee blends or products.
- Opening and Closing Procedures: Take responsibility for opening and closing the café, including setting up or closing down coffee machines, ensuring cleanliness, and managing cash handling processes.
- Cash Handling & POS: Operate the point-of-sale system accurately, handle cash and card transactions, and ensure proper change is given. Manage closing cash-ups and balance cash drawers.
- Promote Brand & Loyalty Programs: Actively promote the café’s brand, loyalty programs, and special promotions to customers. Create opportunities to engage customers and build a loyal clientele.
Requirements:
- Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a barista, with at least 1 year in a senior or supervisory role. Experience in coffee preparation, customer service, and café operations.
- Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
