Salary: $80,000 - $115,000

Department: Benefit Administration Services

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Senior Benefit Analyst is to lead and execute complex benefits administration implementations and ongoing service support by translating HR, payroll, and benefits data into scalable configuration and data exchange solutions. Core responsibilities include advanced requirements discovery, data diagnostics, configuration strategy, testing governance, and release readiness for client set up and annual renewals. The Senior Benefit Analyst serves as a key client advisor and internal escalation point to ensure data integrity across payroll and carrier systems, optimize processes, and drive continuous improvement through documentation and standards. This position will report to the Senior Director of Benefit Administration and partner closely with clients and other Bolton Benefit Administration Services (BAS) and Health Team members.

Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Lead client implementations, renewals, and annual open enrollment cycles using strong project management and consulting skills, including workplans, testing coordination, stakeholder management, status updates, and clear next steps while balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Lead end-to-end data conversion from legacy platforms, including data mapping, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Own requirements discovery and solution design by translating HR/payroll processes and benefit plan provisions into scalable configuration, integrations, and data flows; define data formats, validation rules, timelines, risks, and dependencies.
  • Configure, test, and implement HR and benefits administration solutions, establishing standards for build quality, maintainability, and release readiness.
  • Serve as the primary client liaison and escalation point for complex configuration, file, and data issues—diagnosing root causes and coordinating with internal teams, vendors, and carriers to align expectations and drive timely resolution.
  • Own carrier file processes (e.g., 834 and custom formats), including build, testing, reconciliation, and ongoing discrepancy management.
  • Perform and oversee ongoing audits of client, carrier, and platform data; establish quality checks, monitor trends, and drive corrective and preventive actions to reduce defects and rework.
  • Create and maintain client-facing and internal documentation to support implementations, ongoing service, training, and audit readiness; contribute to operational tracking, reporting, metrics, and continuous process improvement.
  • Mentor and develop benefit analysts through onboarding, coaching, and progressive ownership; provide peer review of builds, carrier files, and deliverables; model effective client communication and escalate risks early as needed.
Requirements:
  • 8 – 10 years’ experience working with HR-related information systems and/or online self-service benefit enrollment systems; bswift (preferred), PlanSource and/or Benefitfocus experience.
  • Strong knowledge of benefits administration systems and EDI, including 834 files; bswift FeedBuilder experience preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (e.g., pivots, lookups, data validation) and strong working knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Experience supporting ACA administration and reporting is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with ability to troubleshoot complex data issues end-to-end.
  • Strong customer service and consulting skills; ability to manage multiple clients across implementation and ongoing service, including escalations and competing deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or industry certification preferred (e.g., CEBS, SHRM-CP/SCP, or HRCI).

Our firm offers a collaborative work environment, opportunities for professional growth, and a generous benefits package, including family health, vision, and dental benefits; employer-paid disability and life insurance benefits; a 401(k) plan with match after 6 months of employment; vacation and sick leave; paid holidays; hybrid telework arrangements; and monthly fitness stipends.
