Senior Bookkeeper

We’re hiring a Senior Bookkeeper at BusyBee Bookkeeping Solutions, and we’d love to talk.

We’re a remote, family-owned bookkeeping firm that keeps our clients’ financials clean, their books audit-ready, and their owners out of the weeds. We’re growing, and we need an experienced right-hand who can own month-end review, field team questions, and eventually run our weekly huddles independently.

ROLE DETAILS

Job Type: Contract (Part-Time)

Location: 100% Remote

Rate: ~$45/hr (commission-based)

Starting Hours: ~15 hours/month

Growth Potential: Up to ~40 hours/month

Openings: 2 positions available

HOW THE PAY MODEL WORKS

We use a commission-based structure, strong performers earn more:

  • Cleanup projects: you earn approximately 50% of the cleanup fee for the work you complete
  • Ongoing monthly work: premiums added for review responsibilities and client-facing calls
  • Average effective rate: ~$45–$50/hr or higher depending on the work you take on

This model rewards efficiency. The faster and cleaner your work, the better your effective rate.

AVAILABILITY WINDOW

  • Monday–Friday, 8am–3pm Eastern for a daily 30-minute checkpoint and client questions
  • Outside that window, you manage your own schedule

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Complex Bookkeeping

Own larger, complex law firm client pods. Handle monthly bookkeeping, IOLTA reconciliation, and trust accounting end-to-end. Strong fit if you love doing the work.

Cleanup, Review & Onboarding

Lead multi-period, multi-entity cleanup engagements. Review team work before delivery. Guide new clients through onboarding and SOP setup. Strong fit if you love process and oversight.

Both roles also include:

  • Record and reconcile client transactions in QuickBooks Online
  • Maintain accurate, compliant IOLTA/trust accounting records
  • Categorize transactions, post journal entries, ensure data accuracy
  • Communicate with clients as needed for clarifications, missing documents, or approvals
  • Collaborate with the Controller/Fractional CFO & Operations Manager on escalations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Double (formerly Keeper) experience - required; please only apply if you have this
  • 2+ years bookkeeping experience in a client-service or firm environment
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO)
  • Strong trust/IOLTA accounting knowledge - attorney client experience highly recommended
  • Cleanup experience - comfortable scoping and executing messy, multi-period engagements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication - you will be client-facing
  • Honest about your availability and capacity - we need people we can plan around

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS

  • Clio Manage experience (this comes with a bonus on your rate)
  • Staff Accountant-level experience
