The New Mexico Department of Health's mission is "To ensure health equity, we work with our partners to promote health and well-being and improve health outcomes for all people in New Mexico." The Environmental Health Epidemiology Bureau (EHEB) and the Community and Health Systems Epidemiology Bureau (CHSEB) are within the Center for Health Protection under the Public Health Division in NMDOH. EHEB covers all aspects of the natural and built environment that may impact human health, while CHSEB provides management and analytical expertise related to the acquisition of health datasets that assist with population surveillance and assessments of health conditions impacting New Mexicans.
Why does the job exist?
This position provides administrative and fiscal support to the Environmental Health Epidemiology Bureau (EHEB) and Community and Health Systems Epidemiology Bureau (CHSEB). This position works closely with staff in the Center for Public Health Operations.
How does it get done?
This position works closely with staff in the Center for Public Health Operations (CPHO) to ensure all fiscal items are in line with the goals of the Public Health Division. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: 1) ensure contracts are executed and purchase orders are encumbered in a timely manner; 2) complete payroll corrections and submit TPID change requests as needed; 3) facilitate procurement by creating POs and payment vouchers for both contracts and supplies; and 4) complete information requests as needed for the CPHO.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field and one (1) year of experience performing budget preparation, financial document preparation and management, policy/program analysis, budget monitoring, governmental accounting, and/or federal grant reporting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, stooping, bending, reaching and lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds may be required.
