Senior Business Analyst

Work Location: Dubai


Role Overview

Virtusa is looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst – Open Banking to join our Banking & Financial Services (BFS) practice. The role will support our global banking clients in defining, shaping, and delivering Open Banking and API-led transformation programs across digital channels, core banking integration, and regulatory compliance initiatives.

The ideal candidate will combine deep domain understanding of banking processes with strong business analysis and API lifecycle expertise, bridging business needs with technology solutions in an agile delivery environment.


Key Responsibilities

Business & Functional Analysis

  • Lead end-to-end business analysis and requirements management for Open Banking, API modernization, and Open Finance initiatives.
  • Conduct detailed requirement elicitation, gap analysis, and process mapping across Retail, Commercial (Small & Medium enterprises) and Corporate banking domains.
  • Define business and functional requirements, API use cases, and data exchange models aligned with Open Banking standards (UK OBIE, PSD2/3, or equivalent).
  • Support regulatory compliance mapping and traceability between business requirements and Open Banking obligations.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, and QA to translate requirements into implementable stories, acceptance criteria, and test scenarios.

Stakeholder & Client Engagement

  • Engage directly with client business users, product owners, compliance, and technology teams to gather and validate requirements.
  • Conduct workshops, walkthroughs, and demonstrations for stakeholders across business and IT.
  • Manage scope, requirements traceability, and change control through the project lifecycle.

API & Technical Understanding

  • Collaborate with solution architects and API developers to define and review OpenAPI specifications, payloads, and security flows (OAuth2.0, OpenID Connect).
  • Understand consent management, data access, and third-party onboarding mechanisms.
  • Contribute to API documentation, sandbox design, and developer portal configuration in client environments.

Delivery Enablement

  • Work within Agile or hybrid delivery models (Scrum, SAFe) and support sprint planning, backlog grooming, and story refinement.
  • Support UAT, SIT, and Go-Live readiness activities by aligning testing with business outcomes.
  • Maintain all BA artefacts in tools like Confluence, JIRA, and Visio / BPMN tools.


Required Skills & Experience

  • 8–10 years of overall experience, with at least 4–5 years as a Business Analyst in Banking / Financial Services domain.
  • Minimum 2–3 years in Open Banking / API programs (regulatory or platform-led).
  • Strong knowledge of Open Banking frameworks (UK OBIE, EU PSD2/3, or regional standards like MENA, Australia CDR, Singapore SGFinDex).
  • Demonstrated experience in defining and managing API specifications, business rules, and integration requirements.
  • Solid understanding of banking products and processes such as payments, customer onboarding, accounts and transaction data.
  • Familiarity with API management platforms (Apigee / MuleSoft / WSO2 etc.) and API testing tools (Postman, Swagger).
  • Experience working with offshore delivery models and global client stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with an MBA
  • Certification in Business Analysis (CBAP) and Agile (CSPO, SAFe BA) preferred.
  • Exposure to microservices-based architectures, event-driven integration, and cloud-native ecosystems.
  • Experience with developer ecosystem enablement or fintech partner integration.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 20022, OAuth2.0, JWT, and RESTful API design principles.

  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Ability to translate business objectives into technical requirements.
  • Proactive, self-driven, and able to work in complex, multi-vendor ecosystems.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with CXO and program-level stakeholders.
