Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior IT Business Analyst with deep expertise in the U.S. mortgage lifecycle and Government-Sponsored Enterprise (GSE) guidelines.

This role will serve as a critical liaison between Business, Risk, Compliance, Capital Markets, and Technology teams to drive strategic mortgage technology initiatives supporting origination, underwriting, collateral risk assessment, loan delivery, and servicing.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in GSE collateral programs such as Automated Collateral Evaluation (ACE), Value Acceptance, appraisal modernization, and secondary market loan delivery frameworks.

Key ResponsibilitiesMortgage Lifecycle & GSE Requirements Analysis

  • Elicit, analyze, and document business and system requirements across the full mortgage lifecycle: application, underwriting, closing, delivery, servicing, and default.
  • Interpret and translate Selling Guide requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications.
  • Conduct gap analysis between current-state systems and GSE delivery standards.

Collateral & Valuation Strategy (GSE Focus)

  • Define requirements for ACE (Automated Collateral Evaluation), appraisal waivers, hybrid/desktop appraisal workflows, and risk-based valuation models.
  • Partner with underwriting, credit risk, and collateral policy teams to implement compliant valuation decisioning frameworks.
  • Ensure alignment with evolving appraisal modernization initiatives and investor requirements.

Loan Delivery & Secondary Market Integration

  • Support system enhancements related to secondary market delivery, pooling, and investor reporting.
  • Lead data mapping efforts to ensure compliance with MISMO data standards for loan sale and delivery.
  • Collaborate on integrations with investor platforms and capital markets systems.

Technology & API Integration

  • Lead requirements for integrations across:
  • Loan Origination Systems (LOS)
  • Servicing platforms
  • Credit bureaus and AVM vendors
  • Appraisal Management Companies (AMCs)
  • Title and MERS systems
  • Develop user stories, acceptance criteria, and process flows using Agile methodology.
  • Work closely with architects and developers on API-driven solutions supporting automated underwriting and collateral evaluation.

Risk, Regulatory & Compliance Alignment

  • Ensure system workflows comply with:
  • TRID regulations
  • CFPB requirements
  • GSE risk tolerance frameworks
  • Collateral representation and warranty standards
  • Collaborate with Risk and Compliance teams to support audit readiness and control documentation.

Stakeholder Engagement & Governance

  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops with business leaders, technology teams, and external vendors.
  • Present solution designs and requirement walkthroughs to senior leadership.
  • Support UAT planning, defect triage, and production release readiness.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years as an IT Business Analyst in mortgage banking or financial services.
  • 3+ years supporting GSE-aligned mortgage programs.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Mortgage lifecycle (Origination through Servicing)
  • Collateral valuation (AVMs, desktop, hybrid, full appraisals)
  • Mortgage metrics: LTV, DTI, CLTV, Escrow, LE/CD
  • Secondary market delivery and investor reporting
  • MISMO data standards
  • Experience writing:
  • BRDs / FRDs
  • User stories & acceptance criteria
  • Data mapping documents
  • Process flows (Visio / Lucidchart)
  • Hands-on experience in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Freddie Mac initiatives such as:
  • ACE (Automated Collateral Evaluation)
  • Value Acceptance
  • Appraisal modernization programs
  • Knowledge of risk-based pricing and decision engines.
  • Experience with secondary market loan pooling and investor delivery platforms.
  • Exposure to capital markets and mortgage-backed securities processes.
  • Prior experience working onsite in Virginia within GSE or federal-regulated environments.
