The New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy (NM LEA) Is an organizational unit of the Department of Public Safety (§ 9-19-7, Subparagraph C, NMSA 1978), controlled and supervised by policy set by the Law Enforcement Academy Board (§ 29-7-3, NMSA 1978). The NMLEA is established to provide a planned program of basic training and In-service law enforcement training by furnishing instruction and seminars to consistently upgrade law enforcement within the state (§ 29-7-2, NMSA 1978).

The Compliance Officer II oversees adherence to laws, regulations, and policies, focusing on evaluating eligibility, conducting audits, and governing compliance needs in alignment with New Mexico State Statutes and Administrative Codes for Law Enforcement Regional Satellite Academy operations. The role includes reviewing records, preparing reports, and providing guidance to ensure conformity with standards. Additionally, the position involves administrative support, financial management, and collaboration with stakeholders to develop and enforce standardized policies. Strong analytical and organizational skills are essential for success.
How does it get done?

Minimum Qualification
Associate Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting and one (1) year of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and fingerprinting in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations; and is conditional pending results. Continued employment is contingent upon remaining felony free, per Section
5.12.1.1 of the Criminal Justice Information Systems Security Policy.
In addition, the selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a current Defensive Driving Certificate from the State of New Mexico; or pass and receive the Defensive Driving Certificate within six (6) months of date of hire.
Working Conditions
Much of the work Is conducted in an office environment where the specialist develops training materials, conducts administrative tasks, and collaborates with colleagues. Work in training facilities where they deliver hands-on training sessions, workshops, and simulations. Typically, this role operates on a standard work schedule during business hours, Monday through Friday. Some flexibility in scheduling may be required to accommodate training sessions that could occur outside regular house or on weekends. There may be occasional travel to attend meetings, workshops, or conferences related to training and development.
