You Are:

We are seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to serve as a critical link between programmatic stakeholders and technical delivery teams. This role ensures that complex business needs are translated into actionable, well-documented technical requirements.


The opportunity:

  • Requirements Gathering & Analysis
  • Lead the collection, documentation, and validation of business requirements for ProPS-supported platforms.
  • Engage with stakeholders, system owners, and IT partners to elicit detailed business and technical requirements.
  • Translate programmatic goals into structured system specifications, use cases, and data models.
  • Analyze business processes to identify opportunities for improvement, automation, and standardization.
  • Drive clarity and alignment in situations of uncertainty or evolving scope.
  • System Design & Documentation
  • Collaborate with technical teams to define and document system functionality, data flows, and integration requirements.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including process maps, user stories, and functional specifications.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance data integration across platforms.
  • Uphold high standards for documentation quality, consistency, and accessibility.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as a liaison between business and technical teams to ensure shared understanding of goals and deliverables.
  • Facilitate workshops, demos, and validation sessions to align business and technical perspectives.
  • Communicate complex information clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and design implications to stakeholders.
  • Develop or support user-facing materials such as process guides, FAQs, and training content.
  • Foster trust and alignment in fast-moving or ambiguous project contexts.
  • Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
  • Support system testing, validation, and rollout activities to ensure solutions meet business needs.
  • Identify and recommend process enhancements to improve efficiency, usability, and scalability.
  • Contribute to establishing best practices for requirements management and system delivery.

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.


What you need:

  • Mandatory Skills

o Strong experience in business analysis, including requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management.

o Proficiency in business analysis tools and techniques (e.g., process modeling, use case development).

o Experience working with Salesforce and Databricks.

o Familiarity with cloud-based environments (preferably Microsoft Azure) and data integration concepts.

o Hands-on experience with agile methodologies and tools such as Jira.

  • Qualifications
  • Education & Experience

o Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

o Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Product Analyst, or in a comparable role supporting enterprise or complex business systems.

o Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical documentation and solutions.

o Demonstrated success working in matrixed, cross-functional teams with multiple priorities.

  • Preferred Experience

o Exposure to portfolio management, research collaboration, or data analytics platforms.

o Background in the nonprofit, research, or global health and development sectors.

o Experience supporting systems that enable collaboration between internal and external partners.

  • Core Competencies

o Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.

o Strong documentation discipline with a focus on accuracy and clarity.

o Self-starter who can work independently and drive projects forward with minimal supervision.

o Comfortable working in ambiguous and evolving environments, applying structure where needed.

o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on delivering practical, high-quality outcomes.

o Skilled in stakeholder management, consensus-building, and fostering productive cross-functional relationships.

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Role Location: Washington

Compensation Range: $80,000-$120,000


Benefits

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

Part-time employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching.

Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) program with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Part-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year).

All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
