Senior Business Systems Analyst

Job Description

This job analyzes, documents, tests, and communicates business needs for the creation of new or the maintenance of existing systems and related database and interface systems. This position coordinates and implements projects. Work is performed under general supervision.

This position is considered hybrid; however, you must be able to work on-site and attend in-person group meetings occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop business requirements and related business rules based on business needs.
  • Work closely with the business subject matter experts to define, train on, implement, and support business requirements.
  • Define requirements through interviews, workshops, surveys, and existing system documentation or procedures.
  • Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicting information, and translate high level information into details.
  • Be the liaison between the business and technology teams, including working with user interface design teams.
  • Work with software tools to gather and document requirements and rules.
  • Create and execute database queries for analysis, data validation, data transfer and testing.
  • Create and update test plans.
  • Analyze projects, develop testing strategies, and perform testing on projects and systems.
  • Create, update and design data for use with automated testing scripts.
  • Coordinate the testing phase of projects including manual test cases and automated test scripts.
  • Create and update process documentation.
  • Organize and lead meetings with business, technology, and quality assurance teams.
  • Mentor and train associates.
  • Present material and demonstrate systems to management and other associates.
  • Offer recommendations to management when identifying opportunities for system or process improvement.
  • Write status reports for management on project progress.
  • Maintain a high degree of business functional knowledge.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned within the department or other areas upon request.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years overall proven performance as a Business Systems Analyst or the equivalent job experience is required.
  • Ability to assemble information, engage in analysis, develop opinions, and clearly express decisions using sound reasoning and judgment.
  • Ability to communicate, in both oral and written formats, in a polite, clear, concise, and accurate way.
  • Ability to comprehend and execute complex instructions.
  • Ability to develop product knowledge.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and react to documents such as written instructions, manuals, procedures, and policies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a team and lead the team.
  • Ability to understand, work within, and apply Auto-Owners priorities, corporate structure, and requirements in the decision-making process.
