Position Description:
The Senior Buyer will act as a strategic sourcing specialist driving impactful procurement strategies for Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) supplies critical to our manufacturing processes. This role ensures cost-effective sourcing, reliable supply chain operations, and high-quality commodity procurement to support production of innovative medical devices. By leveraging expertise in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and manufacturing procurement, the Senior Buyer enhances operational efficiency and contributes to Applied Medical’s mission of advancing healthcare solutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic sourcing plans for MRO supplies and commodities to support medical device manufacturing and operational continuity.
  • Negotiate supplier contracts to secure cost savings, favorable terms, and compliance with medical device industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and finance, to align procurement strategies with business goals.
  • Analyze supplier performance, market trends, and MRO inventory data to optimize purchasing processes and reduce costs.
  • Manage long-term supplier relationships to ensure reliable delivery of critical materials for medical device production.
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation, including sourcing records and regulatory compliance reports, to meet industry standards.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives within the Strategic Procurement team to enhance supply chain efficiency and MRO inventory management.
  • Represent Applied Medical in supplier negotiations and internal strategy meetings to drive procurement excellence and innovation.
Position Requirements:

The following skills and attributes are requiered:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field, such as a BS in supply chain or industrial engineering.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles.
  • Demonstrates extensive expertise in sourcing and procuring Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) supplies and commodities for manufacturing operations.
  • Exhibits comprehensive knowledge of purchasing, sourcing, supply chain, and accounting processes in medical device or manufacturing settings.
  • Displays exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to engage with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
  • Works collaboratively within cross-functional teams, including operations and quality assurance, to achieve procurement objectives.
  • Shows proven leadership in a team environment, guiding procurement projects and supplier management initiatives.
  • Effectively represents the Strategic Procurement team in internal and external settings to uphold Applied Medical’s standards.
  • Possesses strong negotiation skills with suppliers, achieving cost reductions and operational efficiencies in medical device procurement.

  • Leads innovative procurement initiatives that enhance supply chain efficiency and align with regulatory compliance standards.
  • Communicates procurement strategies and outcomes clearly to stakeholders, promoting transparency and alignment with business goals.
  • Mentors team members in the Strategic Procurement team, fostering a culture of excellence in medical device supply chain management.
Preferred:
The following skills and attributes are preferred:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP) for procurement and supply chain tasks.
  • Experienced in supplier contract negotiation and management, including drafting and overseeing agreements in a medical device context.
  • Skilled in managing strategic, long-term supplier relationships to support medical device manufacturing and MRO needs.
  • Holds certifications from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), such as Certified Public Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or SAP Sales and Distribution (SAP SD).
  • Possesses certifications from the Association for Supply Chain Management (APICS/ASCM), such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM).
  • Demonstrates broad knowledge of facilities and construction-related purchasing within medical device or manufacturing industries.
  • Experienced in procuring capital equipment, such as machinery or infrastructure, for medical device production environments.
