Location:

This is a site based role in Tucson, Arizona.

Position Overview:

The Senior Buyer is accountable to the Commercial Manager for the day-to-day buying and expediting of good and services for the project including and the client offices in Southern Arizona. The Senior Buyer is responsible for overseeing buying and expediting functions as required by the client under the client’s Procurement Policies and procedures.

The Senior Buyer is responsible for establishing reliable relationships between our clients, suppliers, and contractors.

Key Result Areas:

  • Ensure that the project’s buying and expediting needs are met and are achieved in a compliant manner with client Procurement Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure that the client receives the greatest value from the purchasing and expediting functions by processing requisition and purchase orders accurately in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensure the success of sourcing projects using e-sourcing systems, by setting up and managing e-sourcing events, and by fully utilizing procurement tools.
  • Ensure effective decision analysis in the sourcing process by understanding when and how to perform Price Analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience buying and expediting, preferably large heavy infrastructure, or natural resource projects.
  • Mining and or heavy industrial or civil construction required.
  • Knowledge of purchasing and accounts payable interface.
  • Knowledge of general purchasing procedures and regulations and industry standards regarding purchase of material such as contract law and tender opening procedures.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Ensure ethical behavior in all dealings with Suppliers.
  • Monitoring the performance of suppliers’ commitments.
  • Review purchasing systems used by the client to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Superior ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment, with both a sense of both urgency and thoroughness.
  • Professional, positive, and energetic attitude; excellent interpersonal communication skills: ability to relate well to contacts inside and outside the organization.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with the client, peers, and suppliers.
  • Proven ability to build rapport easily and foster productive business relationships.
