Senior Buyer/Planner

Job Summary

We are seeking a technically oriented buyer to join our purchasing team as a Senior Buyer reporting to the Purchasing Manager. Experience directly in the steel services industry is highly desired.

The candidate should be well versed in all aspects of purchasing with a good track record of working with suppliers and internal parties alike.

Having a solid organizational background and multi-tasking abilities are key aspects for the candidate to be successful in this position.

Position Details:

Skill Sets:

• Very detail-oriented, ability to interface effectively with suppliers and internal departments to perform duties effectively.
• Flexibility and adaptability in working in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong computer skills in windows based operating systems and programs.
• Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning software (Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains is a plus).
• Communication abilities to interface with general workforce to business owners.
• Ability to read and understand basic steel part manufacturing and fabrication drawings.

Key Position Requirements:

• Prepare requests for quotations.
• Prepare purchase orders.
• Negotiate with suppliers.
• Expedite purchase orders.
• Responsibility to assist accounting with purchase order / invoice discrepancies.

· Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

· Address all internal and external questions regarding purchase orders.

Optional Candidate Characteristics (Desired)

· Bachelor’s degree

· Steel service or OEM purchasing experience (>5 years).

· Familiarity with integrating and launching software systems.

· Understanding of Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps & Power Automate).

· Self-starter.

· Background with OEM manufacturing.
